Hi again.

2011 Touareg 7P UK Right Hand Drive.

Wife out in the Touareg 7P today when I get a call - 'I've got a warning light on. It says - Running gear - Workshop with a picture of a car with up and down arrows'. This is while she is towing a horse (only about 5 miles). She says nothing seems wrong so I say just take it nice and steady and I'll take a look when you get home.
When she gets home the car is pointing skyward sitting on the bump stops at the back. No issues with Module 34 since we got the car about 2 months ago.

Cleared all codes, and drove back and forward a few times on the driveway, and then up and down the road, but no errors returned even though car remained way too low at the back.
Then I tried some of the Basic setting options, but nothing seemed to do anything. Nothing moved as far as I could tell. (That was probably not a good move, but hopefully a proper reset will sort whatever wrong things I did back to correct?)
Then I take a look under the back of the car and found a broken level sensor, so that is an easy fix. I have a replacement on its way.
But my question is what to do after I have fitted the replacement? I assume that I need to do some basic settings, but not sure what. I note that the module is UDS and I do not have HEX-V2 or HEX-NET. I do have HEX-USB+CAN.
Elsa just says - Reset adaptive suspension with the vehicle diagnosis system, testing and information system - VAS5051B.
I found the page below, but not sure if I can do these activities with my HEX-USB+CAN. Perhaps someone can confirm? Or point me to the right place of how to do setup after level sensor is replaced please with HEX-USB+CAN? Or do I need to quickly get my hands on a HEX-V2?

But my question is what to do after I have fitted the replacement? I assume that I need to do some basic settings, but not sure what.
Let's get the new sensor installed. Then clear fault codes and see where you are at at that point.

My guess is you'll have to re-calibrate the ride height. That's done by entering measured values into Adaptation channels, but via Basic Settings.

I think so, but don't have a procedure for that specific suspension module handy at the moment.

Hi all

I'm getting a liitle concerned that I'm going to have to take the car to the dealers after I refit the level sensors since I can't yet find any way to calibrate the suspension. Would like to know in advance rather than wait until Wednesday and then have to phone the dealer on Thursday.
I cannot find any post here or on mytreg.com or on clubtouareg.com or on YouTube indicating that anyone has successfully calibrated a 7P. Maybe it is all automatic, but again I can find no confirmation.

If I need to get a HEX-V2, again would like to know sooner rather than later.

The procedure here -
7L_procedure
is for 7L Touareg (non UDS), so no use to us.

The procedure here -
UDS_procedure
refers to UDS modules like on 7P, but 7P is not mentioned.

There is also a guy asking about 7P in that thread and also here - Thread_from_2018 , but he appears to have got no answer. I will try to PM him.

Here are the screens in my VCDS to compare differences with the UDS instructions above.

For IDE03802 Start up to reference level? Maybe no equivalent. Not needed?
For IDE03762 Calibrate level control? Maybe no equivalent. Not needed?
For IDE02001 through IDE02004 Body height right/left front/rear wheel house edge, maybe we should use IDE03850 through IDE04148 left/right front/rear level ctrl sys sensor : adaptation value (zero pos)?

Anyone got any confirmation of any of the above please?

I cannot think of any reason you would need a HEX-V2 rather than the HEX+CAN you currently have.

Part of the problem with us not having a detailed procedure is that air suspension simply wasn't an option on the 7P T'reg in the US.

Ah. That makes sense. I wasn't aware of that. But that explains the lack of internet results. So a much rarer car than I thought.
I did send in module maps last month for the car (primarily to try to help identify issues with the diff lock referred to in a different thread). Dana then suggested I try sending debug and blockmap information (due to communication error) which I also did.
Not sure if they may be of any help in any way with this issue?

I just found this thread which I somehow missed,
Another_Thread
which suggests that this module, although UDS, acts like the older modules. So I think we might be OK. Using your suggestion Uwe of "Suggestion: Go to [Advanced Measuring Values], put 'height deviation' (without the quotes) into the search/filter box, and show us what it says?"
I will have to take a look in Advanced Measuring Values tomorrow.

Hi.
I had a look in the Advanced Measuring Values and here is what I found. Sorry on the first photo I did not get the full codes. These were the only values where I found any numbers which looked like they might be relevant.
Note that at the moment I have the back of the car jacked up on axle stands with the front of the car on the ground. Jacking mode is active. Both rear level sensors are disconnected. I don't see why there are differences between front right and front left in the attached photos.
So, we do have some Advanced Measuring Values which mght be helpful, but sorry I don't see how we can adjust them. As far as i understand with my limited VCDS knowledge, these values are only for viewing, logging or graphing, not for editing? Measuring Blocks is greyed out.
I don't see where dean001 managed to input the actual heights.....

I would expect it to be the following Adaptation channels:

Well the sensor did not turn on Wednesday...... or Thursday......
Since it is the 'pole' which snapped (as usual) rather than a faulty sensor, I made up a new pole out of a bit of steel bar lying around the garage and a few bolts nots and washers. With a little wiggle room in the joints so that it will hopefully last until sensor does turn up.
So I have in fact temporarily put the same sensors back in the same places.
After taking the car off the axle stands and turning jacking mode off, the car sorted itself out more or less, as expected since there is currently no new sensor.

However, I did notice that there is a small difference in height from wheel to wheelarch across the rear, so still keen to establish how exactly to modify the height by corner.

I took a look at Adaptation channels -
IDE03850-MAS02230 -- Left front level ctrl sys sensor: adaptation value (zero pos) - Height
IDE03858-MAS02230 -- Right front level ctrl sys sensor: adaptation value (zero pos) - Height
IDE03866-MAS02230 -- Left rear level ctrl sys sensor: adaptation value (zero pos) - Height
IDE04148-MAS02230 -- Right rear level ctrl sys sensor: adaptation value (zero pos) - Height

and they are currently all the same, set at 470mm like the screenprint below.

Adaptation

I had engine running, in Neutral, with doors closed.
In this screen I changed right front and left front to 490mm. Both were saved successfully. After exiting the module I checked the car whwelarch measurements and they had not changed.
I changed the adaptation channels both back to 470mm.

In the 7L procedure it says -
[Read]
Wait until the car goes into 2 different levels.
This then settles the car into the correct position for measuring.
I wonder if there is an equivalent in my module, which needs to be done before making changes in the above Adaptation channels?

There's another channel called:
IDE02938-MAS01601 -- Complete height calibration - save

I would think this is involved, but I'm not sure what else is necessary.

I'll try that. But I suspect there must be also something to be done before measuring? Otherwise it will make a difference depending which of the 5 levels I have selected initially. I don't really want to experiment by randomly selecting various adaptions which might sound right to me, but you might have seen those descriptions before and know to stay away.

I tried the adaptation -
IDE02938-Complete height calibration
There are 2 settings available - Yes or No. Initial setting is Yes, so it seems logical to set it to No to start the changes, and then set it back to Yes after heights are finished?
So with 3/4 tank of fuel, all doors closed, height set to 'Normal', engine running. With security code entered, I try to change it to No. But I get error message. So I have tried in Neutral or Park, handrake on or off, height in Normal or Sport, engine running or not, but still same error message - 'Conditions not correct or request sequence error'.

Any ideas?

Had an idea overnight which might be relevant. Might be an obvious oversight on my part. Since I was only trying to find the correct combination of actions, I was not bothered about actual measurements, so I was sat in the car! Sounds obvious now. Seat occupied sensors may need to be all 'off'. I will try again later without being in the car.

Hi. I tried while being outside the car. But still no luck. Handbrake on, in Park, engine running, all doors, boot(trunk) and bonnet(hood) closed. After entering security code, still cannot change IDE02938-Complete height calibration to No. Anyway tried changing heights again in IDE08350 etc. Values again are accepted, but nothing happens. Then I also tried IDE02938-Complete height calibration after changing the numbers. This time I overwrote Yes with Yes. Dashboard comes up still with error, but VCDS says value accepted. But still nothing changed. I tried a few times, each time closing controller, then security, then make the changes, but nothing has moved. I was using various combinations of 470 and 490 but still nothing.
