Hello All!

I just bought this TT cheap knowing that it had some transmission issues. Drives perfect for the first 10-15 minutes. Once car warms up, the violent jerking starts. From 1st to 2nd will almost break your neck. Sometimes it won't shift above 3rd. Once it does shift 5th/6th it is smooth sailing until you have to slow down. The downshifting is less violent but still noticeable.

From what I have read online, everything points to a bad valve body. I ran an auto-scan last night and fault code 17224 (P0840) popped up. Does this still point towards a bad valve body...or should I go a different direction?

Any help would be greatly appreciate.

Since the TCU has a DTC for an Electrical Malfunction, I'd see about trying to trouble-shoot and fix that first. However, I'm not familiar enough with the 09G to give any specific advice on how.

Thanks for the reply. I have read online that the TCM (transmission control module) being a common fail component. I found a cheap used one online so I am going to try that before I dig in deeper. Does anyone know the location of TCM on a 2003 Audi TT 1.8 roadster? I am having a hard time locating it.

Notorious trans for valve body issues.
I bet it will turn out to be a valve body replacement. Have you ever see the TCM go bad? I am going to try that first. Do you have any idea where it is installed on the car?
