Hello everyone!

1st time noob post here. So I apologize in advance. The search box keeps omitting short search terms. Like "TT" "BEA".

Picked up a low mileage 2003 Audi TT Quattro that has the 225hp BEA engine.

I recently purchased the hex-v2 cable and have installed the latest version of VCDS. It seems to work pretty good. But it does t seem to have an associated engine label file, readiness scripts, or output tests for the car.
Was looking at the output tests to see if I could fire the drivers side radiator fan. From what I've read, that would be done with the out put tests.
Is this by design? Or am I missing something vital in the setup and detection process?

Oh and if anyone knows what part number the KO4 turbo is that would help. The over boost code is coming from the wastegate actuator ..it leaks pretty bad and isn't opening.

Thank you!

Posted the scan log below for the ecm controller info.

Hi and welcome.

Since that ECU uses the oldest of the VAG diagnostic protocols (KW1281), it only supports Sequential output tests. That means there's a sequence of tests programmed in the ECU and all VCDS (or any other scan tool) can do is to request the ECU to start that sequence, and once started, request the next test in the sequence. The ECU will send back a numeric code with each step in the sequence that VCDS will interpret to tell you what output is currently activated. There's no way to tell from a distance to know whether a particular output (such as the drivers side radiator fan) is part of that sequence. Note also that ECUs will often refuse to run the output test sequence more than once in a single key cycle.

As for label files and readiness scripts, I would imagine that an existing one can be adapted. I'll ask @Dana to take a look.

Thanks for the info!
That explains why it would be showing error fields the second time I would access it!

Thanks NEtech.
I don't see a way to upload the file. So here is link to a Google drive. If it doesn't work I can copy and paste.

@Dana I guess 06A-906-032-BAM.lbl is close and could be used.

@NEtech I agree. Either 06A-906-032-AWP (slightly lower 180 HP output) or 06A-906-032-BAM could be used. The AWP file may be better only because it has a Readiness script but the TT does have a few special groups and I often dig into the repair manual Readiness achievement PDFs when it comes to TT Readiness.

If the OP isn't opposed to tweaking this himself I would open C:\Ross-Tech\VCDS\Labels\8N-01.lbl using Notepad and edit this line from:

Code:
;8N0-906-018-BB ; BEA (8N)
to:
Code:
REDIRECT,06A-906-032-AWP.LBL,8N0-906-018-BB ; BEA (8N)
or to:
Code:
REDIRECT,06A-906-032-BAM.LBL,8N0-906-018-BB ; BEA (8N)
Just make sure to note which file you are happy with so you can drop a copy of that redirect into C:\Ross-Tech\VCDS\Labels\User so it is preserved the next time you update VCDS. If you have any issues please send an email to Support with a link to this thread and I'll tweak the file for you.

In regard to the fans you might be better of unplugging and jumping each circuit of the fan switch on the rad to see if both high and low speeds work but Output tests in address 17 or 08 may activate the fans if that wasn't a sequential option under 01.

PL24 believes the current-day direct replacement turbo part number is 06A 145 704 QX based on VIN.

@Sapper502,

If you can send Function: Meas. Blocks -and- Adaptation Control Module Maps using the Output: Pre-Label File selection to Support via e-mail at some point they would be helpful so we can create a more permanent solution in VCDS.

Thanks,
Dana
