Module 01, Value ENG109007-ENG99938, Spark Efficiency Deviation. Does this have a meaning or just a mistranlation? The % value (16) does not vary with load demand or rpm.

More trivia. The spark pugs were replaced in kind but there is no change at all in the values, at idle/part load: 34/16%. The plugs that came out (54,200 km) were pristine. No deposits anywhere and center insulator a nice light tan.
New car scans posted by Jef in Jun 2020 were about 0/0 and on an older car (96k km) in Dec 2019 was 138/10%. Dr. Peter posted (10/19 ?) in Nov 2020v for a 33k km car. Motorss are similar, late 2.0L but not identical. S omaybe there iis some significance in the values ? Maybe induction coil voltage?

OFF TOPIC. I understand the business model here ie"my car is broken or can't fix customer's car" but that is not my focus. If the car is broken and not easily fixed it's gone baby gone. That is why I don't post in car repair support.Maybe I should ?

Interesting. Slow increase in % over time. I have not noticed a decline in performance by the SOP method. Have you?
If the measured mass air flow to HP approximation is at all applicable, my car seems to make close to the rated power. I did post that measuement but there were no responses or interest.

That there is little interest here in the spark inefficiency measurement is understandable, it does not help in fixing broken things. However since it does vary with time and so with mileage it may be useful as a predictor of maintenance need. The measurement is not some mistake.

So if a real parameter is being measured what can it be? Possibly secondary winding resistance? The turns are insulated from each other and the more turns the higher the voltage spike. The coil is a passive device but the insulation can fail in principle reducing the number of turns. Just speculation. Maybe due to high performance redundancy the imagined problems seldom come up and so no interest. But curious minds…….

There are many things that ECUs measure and make available to be read, which are not well documented or understood. This has been the case "forever". On pre-UDS modules, there were plenty of values in Measuring Blocks that simply weren't defined anywhere at all. Now with UDS, everything has a name of some sort (although some of those names can be quite cryptic). But that doesn't mean it's documented to the point where anyone outside of VAG (and the ECU vendor) really understands what it means or how it should be interpreted.

Possibly secondary winding resistance?
I suppose someone could buy and install a fresh set of coils to see if that changes it. ;)
