Hi guys and gals.

Recently I purchased a MFSW for a 2014 1.6tdi VW Caddy, part number 2K5.419.091 E74 and after doing some research, I realised that I needed to purchased another SWCM as the one fitted would not accept the MFSW but would do CC.

I also need a new BCM due to retro fitting front fogs at the same time; which went flawlessly and worked. Both parts were new and genuine.

Here are the part numbers for the relevant modules SWCM:- 5K0 953 569 BD, BCM:- 5K0 937 087 AC.

The problem that I am having is even though (I think) the coding is correct, the CC is not activating via the MFSW. When i took the van out for a test drive, i made sure that i was going fast enough for the system to activate.

I can alter the volume and change radio station via the MFSW, the horn works and the back lights for the buttons work when i turn the lights on.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Please find below the before and after scans.

I'm sort of afraid that this is not a viable option; cc via MFSW on PQ35. At least not in the OEM way.
There are some emulators on the market that are capable of translating signals from the MQB wheels to the PQ35/PQ25 electronics.

iichel That guy is on caddy forum too
There is a hundreds of topic regarding MFSW because every new user asking this same...and this same ...etc
he is asking this same too , and people asking him for this same , to post details ti understand that car
and he dont know ...
I am really confuse when i see this same guy, this same scan, this same issue ... and he dont know what to do
Just wonder - what he is expecting if he can not help other to explain what is this ?

As already said by iichel, MFSW with CCS is not possible the normal way in your Caddy.
Right now, you probably have something not cabled right or coded not right.
There i can not help you.

But when you have everything done right, than your ECU will probably complaine about an "unplausible CCS Signal" os something simmilar
4481 - Cruise Control Switch (E45)
P0568 00 [039] - Implausible Signal
Not Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear

That i can tell you from my research with a Bosch EDC17CP20 ECU.

With CCS inside the MFSW VW did change the CCS Communication to the ECU.
And this is not supported by oider ECU's.
I expect you will face the same issue with your SIMOS PCR 2.1, too.
For the Bosch i did found the Code and was able to patch it, see here: https://uk-polos.net/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=70203&start=75#p561665
but SIMOS, i have no clue

No as yet dnoermann.
I am trying to book Caddy in to get the cluster upgraded, the rear MK4 lights coded in and I'll get the specialist to have a look at the problem.
However, if I find a solution I will get back to this post and let you know

Hi dnoermann,
Do you know if this change in communication affects all MFSW, or just retrofits using MQB MFSW?
E.g I have PQ35 Scirocco face-lift (with MFSW + CCS stalk), I plan to fit "MK7-style" MFSW (inc CCS buttons) from 6C Polo (PQ25). Will the ECU understand CCS signals?

hmm....... I'm confused "Mk7-style MFSW" is MQB!

As I understand, the basic problem with fitting a MQB MFSW into a PQ25 car is really related to which module becomes the LIN master.

Here is a comparison of how the CAN network arrangement changed in respect of the MFSW with the introduction mk7-style (MQB) vehicles

UQEXmN5.png

Note that in the mk7 case, whilst the LIN wire for the MFSW module is routed via J527 (same as PQ25), the master module is the hex 19 module - not J527!!

I guess that the pins on the mk7 MTSW connector could be re-wired to suit the PQ25/35 arrangement, but it's not at all certain that the hex19 protocols that have been programmed into J453 would be the same as those needed by J257. Does anyone know if this works?

Don

I dont know.
I belive it will work cause in PQ35 you have the "Lenksäulensteuergerät" where the Lin of MFSW is connected to.

@DV52 /Don
Appreciate the info. You may not be familiar, but there is a "Polo GT" model sold in UK/Europe that is pre-MQB as it was a Polo based on PQ25/26 platform. Thus, the steering wheel switches are an address 16 SWCM Subsystem rather than 19 CAN GW Subsystem. This gives me hope it will work on my PQ35 car which from the factory uses 16 SWCM Subsystem.

I dont know.

Appreciate the reply. For me, it's worth a try to fit it at least. I'll update tomorrow with my findings :)

By way of update:
I fitted the wheel (p/n 6C0 419 091) and buttons 5G0 959 442 M / 6C0 959 442 C.

There seems to be some wiring problem, as now the CCS on/off button sounds the horn. The CCS set/res/cnl/Mode buttons don't appear to have any function.

On further investigation it seems there are 2 versions of airbag/MFSW loom; 6C0 971 584 A and 6C0 971 584 C. It seems version "A" is for cars with PR code 2FJ steering wheel (this is my original) while version C is for cars with PR 2ZH which appears to be applicable to wheels with CCS buttons. Sadly it did not come with the loom when I bought it. Perhaps I need to buy this loom...

General question as I'm curious, what is the purpose of this function in address 16? I have left it alone so far as I don't what it does.

So... did you have a look at the wiring diagram of your 5K0 setup and the 6C0 setup?
I have the ELSA wiring diagram for my VIN 5K0 setup (car is 2017 Scirocco). Not super useful because it wrongly states all 5 wires between airbag loom and MFSW plug are all black. They are brown, pink, white/violet, grey and grey/blue.

It looks like this:

I don't have 6C0 car to compare anymore, maybe you have a diagram? :)
Thanks for this! My wiring starts off identical to yours. What I don't know, is this the only change between loom p/n 6C0 971 584 A and 6C0 971 584 C or if there are others.
