Intermittent Starting Problem - possibly starter motor

Hi Folks,

Wondering if when you run VCDS it will pick up a fault on the starter motor or solenoid switch. I ran a diagnostic using Net but I couldn’t really isolate these components. Anyone have experience with this?

Unless there is a diagnostic feedback from the starter motor (such as a signal to say it is turning) - which I've never seen - then it's down to tracing the wires with a DVOM and using the Mark 1 eyeball.
