Hello everyone,

Ive converted my 2005 Allroad air suspension to coils after being left stranded due to air suspension issues too many times. Blau has instructions on their coil conversion to change the soft code from xxxx5 to xxxx2 to get rid of the CEL after disconnecting the j197 module, but when i try this, the soft code does not change. Any pointers?

Im still fairly new to vagcom, so if there is any information about the vehicle that may help, let me know and ill try to get it.

Thanks!

Hi and welcome.

Soft coding in what module?

Please post a complete Auto-Scan for context. My recollection is there's no way to get a C5 Allroad free of faults after removing the air suspension without swapping out some other modules as well, because those modules were specific to the Allroad and will forever be unhappy without data from the suspension module.

engine module, i'm following the instructions provided by Blau and their coil conversion kit.

To recode the Audi Allroad ECU proceed as follows:

Tools Needed - Ross Tech Diagnostic Software

Plug Ross Tech PC into Audi Allroad OBD com-port.
Cycle the ignition key to the accessory position.
Access Ross Tech software from PC desktop.
Select control module.
(01-Engine) control module (Allow several seconds to pass and allow the Ross Tech to communicate with the engine control module).
(07-Coding) engine recode module
(Software Coding) change the last digit from 5 to 2 and save the software coding by clicking (DO IT!) (Allow several seconds to pass and allow the Ross Tech to communicate with the engine control module).
Cycle the ignition key to the off position.
If necessary remove all stored codes from control modules. Cycle the ignition key to the accessory position, re-access the vehicles control modules and remove all stored codes from the control modules. Cycle the ignition key to the off position when done.
Unplug OBD com-port from vehicle.
After all stored codes have been removed from the control modules start the vehicle to confirm there is no check engine light and leveling light.

I'll post the auto-scan when i get home. And thank you btw for the quick replies!

I'll note that the last digit of your ECU's coding isn't '5' to begin with.

But I'll also note that your ECU, your TCU, your ABS, your Airbag module, and your headlight range controller all have part numbers that start with '4Z'. This indicates that they have Allroad-specific software in them and quite likely won't accept coding values that would be used on a regular A6 (with steel suspension) of the same vintage.

You may want to talk to a tuner to see if they can install regular A6 software in some of these modules.
