Hi Guys


I have This Vw transporter 2013 bi-turbo 180 tdi with a Sensor reference fault, it also displays in the instrument cluster change air filter which ive never seen before.

Can anyone help as I'm not sure what sensor/sensors to check or replace??

If I understand this correctly, the ECU outputs a 5V reference signal used by some of the sensors and the "open circuit" indicates that no current is being drawn from it. Got wiring diagrams for this vehicle?

Yes I have wiring diagrams via Elsa win.
I forgot to say engine light on, glow plug light flashing and limp mode active. What I have noticed in the auto scan exhaust gas temp sensor 2 reads -0.0?

Did you check for the 5 volt ref at component directly?

Did you know all shared sensors on the BUS must be tested?

Did you check feed grounds and power sources that must also be verified by bifurcation first?

Did you try unplugging engine bay side to ECU harness & then scan car and clear fault to see if the sensor ref range voltage DTC vacates & if does did you know the issue is on that side most likely or respective sensors and if DTC stays it's on other feed side of ECU?
