So Hello,
I'm Lazar student from Serbia. I love my car(A6 C5 2002) and love Audi cars in general :o.

I want to ask you a quick question about HEX+CAN cable.(I'm sorry if its against the rules)
I'm buying a used HEX+CAN cable, and don't know if the cable is original, i don't want to be some 3rd site knockoff.

Is it original, does it have some limitations(i know when cable is not registered that some features will be locked),does it have multiple uses on multiple cars etc..

I want to say again sorry if it is against the rules to post something related to this, but i'm kinda broke and i can only afford this kind of way.

Sincerely Lazar.

That looks like a ripoff copy to me, but let Uwe confirm (or correct me).

I see a CD with the cable. As far as I know the real cables dont come with a CD since you can download the latest version from the website. If there is software with it that means the original (latest) software doesnt work because its a fake.

There is no HC number on label, so 99,9% it's fake.

@ k0ce, You can post "long number" from [About] screen for a check.

More likely 100% fake.

Uwe corrected me when I posted that a short while ago, some genuine non-English versions DO come with a CD of the non-English VCDS version.

So coming with a CD is not a 100% guarantee that it's a fake, but it is enough to start checking other things - in this case the lack of a serial number made me 99.99999999999% its a fake.

The cross-eyed Panda CD is pretty much a dead giveaway:

None of our distributors who supplied software on CD used those, but they are ubiquitous with clones.

The other obvious sign is the "VAG 12.12" on the back side. No genuine interface has ever had a software version number printed on it, because every genuine HEX+CAN made since 2004 still works with the latest VCDS software downloaded directly from our site.

There are several other less obvious things that are visually wrong about that interface, at least to those who are intimately familiar with the genuine article, but I won't recite them here.
