Getting more and more sent in for repair. They always cause No communication, thus 01324 on the ABS units. They won't boot up.
Think they are getting to that sort of age where the Gen 5 controllers are failing due to water ingress.
Come along way with Gen 5 now, have figured out how to BDM them and swap the firmware/sofware.
Have quite a large library of flash dumps and eeprom dumps. And have quite a fair bit of stock of good used units, here's just a small selection:-

The various different part/software numbers:-

0cq907554 0cq907554a 0cq907554c 0cq907554d 0cq907554e 0cq907554h 0cq907554j
0ay907554f 0ay907554j 0ay907554l 0ay907554m

And because they are fitted to everything that's on the MQB platform, they are fitted to a hell of a lot of vehicles, e.g...

The Yeti is still behaving, but I reckon it's getting close to needing another pump clean, it's been 20k miles now. I also have an Audi A5 now but that's Torsen, not Haldex.

Glad you're still busy mate...

To be fair my entire life exists around Haldex, 7 days a week, lots of long days that turn into 2am at night. And i've never owned a car with Haldex on it, strange world.

But you are right, 20k miles really is the service interval for Gen 5, they need a clean out, fresh oil and a pump learn running every 20k miles. The dealer and service handbook disagrees!

Dealt with a guy up the french alps last week with a 2017 14k mile Golf that the Gen 5 Haldex doesn't work, but up there they will see 3 months of daily 4wd usage. Just a clean out and learn job and he's back working again.

For pump problems caused by the gunge, 25k miles seems to be the average vehicle presented with these problems.

Gen 5 Haldex really is a ticking time bomb for every single car out there, and I suspect many get driven around unknowingly not working. Longer they are left, the more likely they will be swapping the pump out as they chew up the comms and brushes in the motor very quickly when the gunge builds up.

Yep, I still have the spare pump I bought just in case. So mine'll never go wrong, will it. 😃

If code on 22: AWD (J492)

16652 - Databus U1121 00 [009] - Missing Message
THIS = NO COMMS WITH TRANSMISSION CONTROL UNIT

e.g. This is a Gen 5 Haldex unit from an Auto/DSG fitted to a manual car.

They do work OK, but give this fault code.

Now to expand on the difference, inside the eeprom there are some bytes configured like this, I do not think there is any way to change it unless you open/unsolder/dump/edit/resolder.

Code:
EEPROM BYTES 3A6 to 3A8 for Gen 5 Haldex
========================================

                                    A   A    A    A
0ay-f Auto    03 93 D1        00000011 10010011 11010001
0ay-f Manu    02 B2 C1        00000010 10110010 11000001
0cq-d Auto    01 D1 F1        00000001 11010001 11110001
0cq-d Manu    00 F0 E1        00000000 11110000 11100001
                                     B   B    B    B

B =  Trans Type Byte 1=Auto 0=Manual

A = Car Type Byte

(0ay = SUV's - Tiguan, Q3, Yeti)
(0cq = Cars - Golf, A3, S3, TT etc)

There is a similar eeprom byte for Gen 4 Haldex too, which sets it between Auto and Manual, it gives the fault code:-
01315 - Transmission Control Module 004 - No Signal/Communication. 00448 -

Hi everyone, if that can help anyone. I got this error code on a gen 4 haldex module. It came from an audi A3 09 dsg, and installed on a golf mk6 manual.

You have to do a basic settings in the haldex module 22, unfortunately i did not take note of the group number, but it is one of them: 97, 50, 41, 40 or 20. click on go and then on-off.

The fault code disappeared and never reappeared.

Address 22: AWD Labels: 0AY-907-554-V1.clb
Part No SW: 0BR 907 554 A HW: 0BR 907 554 A
Component: Haldex 4Motion 3016
Coding: 0000005
Shop #: WSC 01357 011 00200
VCID: 43D34C69779712B30F1-8016

1 Fault Found:
01315 - Transmission Control Module
004 - No Signal/Communication

may be possible to do the same with a gen 5 module....
