Got a 2004 Passat 4 motion 1.8T AWM
ABS lost all communication common problem with these.
Never was a any problem before this as I have worked on car for years.
Reinstall same ABS module after sending out for rebuild and I am getting these codes they will not clear also have the yellow triangle with (!) on in dash.
Before all I had was beeping and ABS light and Brake light on. (Due to no communication with ABS module)

Just don't know if it's car or screw up on rebuild?

Thanks

Stan Lee Marvel Comics,

Did you check the block 125 values on all modules and check the twisted set on W-CAN in car by overlay to verify?

Plain Coal Cracker English Yoda. Please
Block 125 of ECU or ABS

Before ABS rebuild I had ABS missing in a lot more modules.

Also reading ABS is no longer a problem?

I will look at 125 tomorrow but all modules?

Good Luck

Power-train BUS but yeah cluster likes to go FUBAR too for 3B0........ BOTH!

Yes, ABS in this car supports K line and CAN internal HIGH/LOW network among modules in twisted pair too!

1 Fault Found:
18031 - Powertrain Data Bus
P1623 - 35-00 - No Communication

Like the fault states!

Check the CCM 0x46 & airbag 0x15 on floor Stan Lee for water ingress or corroded wires taking out K-LINE among modules or Radio 0x56 sometimes too!

Faults are indicated between 0x01 and 0x03 so go there first and try overlay too to bridge the gateway to test with termination.

It communicates with the scan tool via K-Line, not CAN.

-Uwe-

Yes it does but also among CAN between modules

Thanks Guy’s.

Anytime you can teach this stupid coal cracker new stuff it’s appreciated!

Never really had to do any Can Gateway work for communication problems before so I was lost.
I never had to use measuring block 125 before and that was cool and a major help.
All modules on gateway showed “0” for ABS. ABS measuring block 125 showed “0” for steering, engine, trans and instruments.

So gateway can’t see ABS and ABS can’t see any module on gateway.

Having worked on this car for years and never any ABS problems till a no communication problem. Having ABS rebuilt fixed the “K” line communication problem.
I really didn’t think wiring was the problem or water.
Years ago I did all the water intrusion maintenance. Just has to be done or we all know the results!

I really didn’t want to do the twisted pair overlay because I am already losing my ASS on this problem.
So I did it the coal cracker way first. Sorry Jack! LOL

I just plugged another 5.7 ABS module in without installing it.
Bingo! Measuring block 125 shows ABS was present in all modules and ABS now sees all modules on the gateway.
Just of course ABS code for ABS not coded to the car.

So it’s a bad rebuild of the ABS module. Communication on “K” line was fixed but somethings wrong with the High and Low Can coming out of module.

So I will see what re-builder has to say? Or install and program the used module which I really don’t want to do.

I will follow up with end result.

Again Thanks Uwe and Jack!
Anytime I learn new stuff is a great day!!!

Good Luck

This is why JPPSG!

ALWAYS ANALYSE WORK HISTORY & BACK TRACE WORK STEPS!

FOD induced wins!

The lesson here is verify the part as aforementioned & before install, that it talks and all other modules are happy in VCDS!
