2002 Passat abs code challenge!

Hello guys,

So, having a little trouble with a Passat abs controller, it won’t keep the codes!

To ad to it the production label in the boot has been eaten by mould and there’s no book with a duplicate either!

Have tried some logins and codes,

With 09555 and 04255 it appears until the ignition is cycled.

Can anyone confirm from the scan if I’m in the right ballpark???

I would suggest you install the latest version of VCDS (currently 19.6.1) and re-scan.

I would suggest you install the latest version of VCDS (currently 19.6.1) and re-scan.

Pulling up your build data from PL24 by VIN, you have:

• Front brakes PR-1ZC disc brakes in front (Geomet D)
• Base engine PR-T9J 4-cylinder diesel engine 1.9 l unit 038.K

You appear to have the correct ABS/ESP module for your car. That's been a problem for other people in the past, replacing with salvage or rebuilt modules.

I think you may need to complete the steering angle sensor basic setting procedure, in the same diagnostic session, in order for the new coding to be stored permanently. That's how Ross-Tech does it in their Bosch 5.3 and 5.7 training video. They don't mention it as a procedural requirement on the Bosch 5.7 Wiki page, but they do mention it on the Bosch 5.3 Wiki page, and it would be consistent with what you're seeing.

I thought Uwe could get what he needed from just the license serial number in the About menu, but I see the registration form does ask for a second bit of verification. Not exactly sure what that's about; you could try submitting with "missing" or something in that field and let him contact you back if there's a problem. Ultimately he just wants to get you registered for proper full support access if you're entitled to it, so you're no worse off than you are now if you can't find it or get it figured out.
