Decimalisation in the UK February 71 caused some serious confusion and some people still begrudge it saying we were ripped off.

From personal experience helping convert the price labels in my local CoOp shop over the weekend prior to decimalisation I KNOW the CoOp ripped off people.

All conversions were rounded up and within a month the 1/2p disappeared from prices, in total an increase of around 40% happened within 3 months once "the powers that be" realised that customers thought 5p was so much less than 1/- (shilling = 12d).
