Gordon Murray has a great way of calmly explaining why buying any car other than his would just be foolish:

I had to look up what driver/car held the previous record:

Having autox-ed a few times, I'm super impressed by both.

I wouldn't piss on that guy if he was on fire, looks like his buddies wouldn't either.

If this were Europe I'd be wondering if Niels' ID3 wasn't in there :)
Not funny :D
I would believe so to, but it could not be possible, it is still in the factory, because the VIN is not active yet.
So my guess is, the software update guy, used 1000V for charging, or maybe more realistic, they stored it 2 month ago, somewhere where they cannot find it anymore:facepalm:

Uwe: wow- interesting (never seen a VAG 1551)!!

I guess that it's only folk of a certain age that are familiar with quasi machine-code devices - albeit the VAG 1551 seems to use a higher order language and it does have a keyboard interface with a matrix screen (instead of memory location flip switches) !!

The young don't appreciate how good they have it!!

Humble Pie needs to fix the strain relief on the cable connection!

Notice how the C2 readiness is always ready in video? :p

Humbles, the 1551 supports more than what you state for function, blink codes are supported in OBD2 cars too if module supports + the unit has ability to talk to Gas analyser on trolley and VAG 1767 to cross check timing and I indeed have the paper!

I still have all my 1551 units and I have an Engineering card that permits expanded functions like in PC DOS version!

I love and still use all my blue boxes, even the updated CAN UDS ones I updated the one 1551 to CAN.

Now this was impressive for its time if you want to talk cool tools!

Twenty years ago, every dealer tech knew that "language", which is why it was incorporated into VCDS. You can actually most everything in VCDS from the keyboard using the exact same key presses as on a 1551/1552.

The 1552 I bought back early in 2000 still works, and still lives on the bookshelf in my office. It's functionally almost identical to the 1551, except it lacks a printer, and is much smaller and handier. I can't find a picture of ours, but this gives you an idea:
