Personally I'm surprised / puzzled by the fact that they didn't have some kind of plow on the front of that train.

I would say that needs to be a gated crossing.:D

For what? So some dippy woman in her Mercedes SUV could get out to make sure that the closing gate didn't scratch the paint on her precious roof while the oncoming train T-boned her SUV, dragging it 450 feet down the track in a fireball that killed five passengers (and took her out of the gene pool)? True story, happened a few days ago at this gated crossing north of NYC:

Bahahaha! Dad used to that in the 60's, then drive through town  I might do it to all the bad parkers at work

The other one was a welding wire bag, filled with oxy-acetylene, fitted over the distrubutor of the shop truck (with the side opening cowls over the engine). When someone would start it, there was an almightly BANG, and the engine cowls would fly out, hit at the top and then crash closed again :D

Zip-Ties on people's driveshafts are a favorite around RT. You need 'em long enough that they whack the undercarriage with every revolution of the shaft.

The guy's other educational walk-through videos are really good, if on the insane end of OCD. This one is different. :)
