Received Instrument cluster and ECU. I installed both. Hooked battery. Attempted to start. IC displays proper mileage, then goes to SAFE. Tried unsuccessfully with all three keys to start. Immobilizer appears to prevent. Also, all of the original issues with the original cluster are back. No HVAC, No convertible roof operation or light in the IC, no turn signal indicators in the dash, no dash lighting. Not sure about what to do from your statement from an earlier post " 0x17-10- gateway settings need to be reestablished upon installation or power down!"

Let's start with clearing all faults codes in each module and see what DTC's in scan reappear, then lets count out and set the adaption as described in captions for gateway list in cluster & also do an adaptation in the HVAC to the immobilizer.

Tried to code HVAC Coding looked correct
adaptation on 081 showed Bus not ok in top left box entered 26467 in new value. Hit test showed error in the bottom box. grayed out save button Error message went away before i could capture.

Turned off key for a couple of minutes then tried to start.

I'm thinking something on the twisted CAN pair is bad in car or there is a blown fuse or loose ground.

This stuff all talked and qualified on bench and so does old cluster I double checked today, just out of curiosity.

An immo defeat would indeed wake the engine up and so it can at least be moved until addressed.

I will do this for free if you like, just freight & I'm happy to hold your hand through the CAN bus testing.

Please lets isolate & start with unplugging all modules on CAN & other than ( engine, trans, cluster )

This car is K line and CAN internal W with a twisted high/low.....

It's not a dumb question because it shows me you have not RTFB the WD and that is what's dumb! :p

Codes in your scans show interference for top communications in both and maybe not in cluster initially because it wasn't saved in sleep mode yet.

Thanks for checking in. Had a tough weekend. Chemo again today. Enjoyed the treats.
Yesterday did a little. Pulled after market radio, hvac module, disconnected complete rear tail light assembly to isolate electric circuit failure. Still had electric circuit failure on left rear bulbs. Took trunk lid apart. That is the only slight amount of water ingress that I have seen on the car. Cleaned and reinstalled ground wires. I am thinking that Central Electric module under the dash could possibly be the culprit. I will try to get that unplugged later in the week to see if can reestablish communication.. I will touch base when I am able to move forward.

Because engine ecu seems unhappy with steering and HVAC I'd unplug those.

Jack Glad you enjoyed the coffee. Thanks for your good wishes. Hoping to feel better this week. Have to get daughter back to school this week. Not sure how much I can get to the car this week. Back to chemo next week.
I was curious if my old cluster would still work with the original keys or if your mating of the keys to the new cluster eliminated that option. Sending the old cluster back if it will still bring the car to life short term might be easier than sending the ecu back for immobilizer delete. Just a thought. Have not given up on getting this problem figured out.
Still need to go over the info you sent last week to start more testing on the car.

Sending the old cluster is not possible for two reasons.

No dual identities unless a strip is done.

The problem is not cluster related it seems to me and CAN related in wiring or other faulty component.

Hi Jack
Got a little time and energy this morning.
Hvac module and radio disconnected and laying in the floor.

I pulled the panel below the steering wheel and disconnected the light colored plug on the central electric module. cleared codes then tried adaptation on instrument cluster 060,061,062. turned off key for a few minutes. tried to start.
Same issues
Then disconnected all plugs from central electric module. auto scanned. Cleared codes. tried adaptation to instrument cluster 060,061,062. This seemed to take several other modules offline. turned off key and left for a few minutes. still no luck

Steering wheel module was still showing up so pulled that fuse. It eliminated from the scan but was not sure where to unplug module without pulling steering wheel.
Ran autoscan cleared codes, tried adaptation on instrument cluster 060,061,062 turned off key for a few minutes. Tried to start. No luck

Does this give us any idea for next steps?

Can I eliminate entry assist modules from the bus if I pull those fuses or do I need to pull door panels to unplug? That was what I did with the steering module.

I would pull cluster since it contains the gateway and I would separate the twisted pairs at harness and remove the CAN connections observing the WD and take pictures and count pins to be exact.

I would only leave power-train to CAN on cluster hooked up, than I'd clear codes and see if it wakes up.

If not while systems are separated physically, I'd than start unplugging steering, ABS, than TCU and Air bag until it fires.

If it still wouldn't fire I'd run an overlay twisted pair from cluster to Engine ECU and sort each twisted pair one by one.

Something is taking down the CAN and it must be isolated for short or faulty termination.

Most importantly........ you must make sure that power, switched power terminal 15 and ground are correct to the cluster!

Weird but happy, at least can move the car around.
Ran auto scan and cleared

Ordered some stabilant 22a and crc electronics cleaner. Should be here Friday. Will clean and treat all plugs as I put it back together. At this point, I want to give everything the best option for good connections

Received the stabilant 22a
Dabbed on all of the connections, put it back together
All worked after resetting the roof.
Still have a few little issues but all the systems are talking
Need to replace coolant sensor. already have it.
Plastic coil connectors on a few cylinders need to be replaced.
Still a little bulb issue on the left side. will have to figure that one out
Also need to do airbag plug bypass on passenger seat.
Small problems after the major ones
