8V A3 Tweaks

I'd like to know if it is possible to tweak my car through VCDS to add the following. I've tried finding these in VCDS for hours, and other forums don't have the coding either.

1. Indirect TPMS
2. Enable Drive-select like settings for the steering effort in MMI. Maybe even enable different throttle mapping?
3. Even with the "late" setting my headlamps turn on too early for my taste when in auto mode, can the light sensor sensitivity be altered?

The TPMS change maybe some where in the ABS coding, if it is at all possible [10F16AA224200A6C017C060841C62508562450806082A4B2002100080608]

- Contrary to popular belief, Audi and Volkswagen does not give us any information on what this coding means. So your guess is as good as mine.
- Each on of these values could be a number from [00 to FF or as we humans understand it 0 to 255] with 30 different bytes, that is a combination of [1,003,101,341,614,529,699,533,217,301,907,014,537,585] different possibilities, that is if my math is correct. C(n,r) = n! / ( r! (n - r)! )

- You may have to give it some time so someone can figure it out, or you can contact Audi with the requests, as they would know, since they designed and built the vehicle. Ross-Tech makes scan tools.

- A ECM Chip tuner could help with re-mapping the throttle, Ross-Tech does not make chip tuning tools.

^^^^^ Dana: When you say "This thread contains RoW market 8V (5Q0) MQB TPMS discussion", what exactly do you mean? Is the important point in your suggestion that m_bolc needs to find another RoW. 8V owner, or will any 5Q0 - MQB type vehicle (of RoW persuasion) suffice?

Based on memory this thread was named something like Need Help from RT employees (or some combination of those words - I may have the order messed up). When I saw the VIN combined with the fact that the title wasn't searchable we changed it. US market vehicles are Federally required to have TPMS as of M.Y. 2008 so the MQBs that rolled out locally are factory enabled.

We do not have any coding information to contribute at this time but it is possible that someone like NEtech or Sebastian may have a suggestion. Because these are different HW/SW numbers ... I'm not sure if there is anything you can do at this time to help.

m_bloc: Hello again! I occasionally pick-up, or I get sent (via PM) tweaks that are of interest which I keep in a MS-Word database. The instructions below came from that database, but I know nothing further about it. I can't vouch for the veracity of the instructions, but I provide them on this understanding (i.e. entirely untested). However, on my mk7 (which has TPMS active), with the exception of the STG 03 coding (the last 3 bytes on my car are 0028C1), the rest of the instructions are correct!

TPMS Retrofit Instructions (MQB):

Do you by any chance have the SW/HW information from the source car?

I also noticed that the information data bus is something I have never looked at. The indirect TPMS hasn't been too precise, it triggers the alarm at about -5 psi. Maybe reviewing which data bus I am using will help improve accuracy.

That's not good, mine triggers at a much higher pressure (somewhere around 25 PSI assuming a nominal tire pressure of 32 PSI when TMPS is set). One of the good attributes of "differential" monitoring systems like TPMS is finer granularity. You might need to investigate your tweak further!

I mean the alarm is triggered when the pressure is dropped by 5psi or more, not 5 psi of absolute pressure (that would be a very noticeable flat!).

I will try with the adjusted data bus value, I just varied it to suspension data bus.

Now on to my friend's car: I will report success or failure soon.
