Hi Folks,

I'm in the process of installing a new drivers door latch assembly in my 03 Jetta project.
There is a little black plastic bracket attached to the assembly with a rivet, and this bracket attaches to the tin door panel.
The existing bracket that was installed in my car was bent and broken in about four places.

So, with my new latch assembly, I also bought a new bracket and installed with a rivet....and an OEM rivet at that;).
Problem is now, the latch assembly with new bracket installed will not fit on the tin door panel...not even close.
The only way it might fit is if I bend it to the point of breaking it....and then it would look like the broken bracket that was in there.

I guess I could bend the bracket with a heat gun...but why would I have to do that with an OEM part?
Unless the part is actually designed to be bent when it's installed? (in which case it will break, if not now, later)

Am I missing something here?

Thanks,
Rem
