Edit; As of 7/22/2019 this is solved. Please see post #13 for the details.

Hi,

i have a Skoda Fabia TDi RS 130Ch (2006-6y2) and i have an issue with VCDS. When i try to do a [Basic Settings] on VCDS to reset my Steering Angle Sensor (G85) in "group 001" i have this error : ERROR: Group 001 Not Available

When i clear all error code (AutoScan, see below) error is erased but when i'm going in the calculator [03-ABS Brake] default is here again.

I have try to see in the Skoda Fabia section, but nothing available.

I have try this method (Polo) but Group 001 is not available...

My question is : why i don't have "Group 001" and how to reset (basic settings) the steering angle sensor (g85) ?

Do you have an idea ?

Best,

Yes, I think the Basic Setting should be available in Group 001.

Does your steering angle sensor work correctly? Check in Measuring Blocks, group 005, field 1. Move the steering wheel. The value should change. With the front wheels pointed straight ahead and the steering wheel centered, it should read no more than +/- 1.5 (or maybe 2.5) degrees.

PS: Please Get Verified. I think you are in category 2 of that post.

Hi,

in Measuring Blocks (Group 005, field 1), i have the position of sterring wheel (0.0° when the wheels pointed straight and + or - xxx° when i move the Steering wheel).

it's strange... it's not present in Basic Settings (Group 001).

The only thing I see that may explain your issues is a communication problem. For instance, the scan showed

No Faults Found
or DTCs not supported by controller
or a communication error occurred

.. and the DTC log was missing the part number, etc:

I would try using another PC if you happen to have one.

You may also want to make sure the live G85 readings are close to each other when the steering wheel is at the extreme left and right stop. So, if the steering angle reads -430° in one direction it should read close to + 430° in the opposite direction.

PS: After you Get Verified we can move this thread to the Car Repair Support sub-forum so it will receive more views.

I get verified first (data has been sent to Ross-Tech) and try another PC this week-end.

Thanks for help.

Hi, I was able to join the "group 001" with a new PC (the procedure worked perfectly).

By contrast, the ESP warning light comes on after a 10-minute drive, I will check the wiring near the alternator as shown on several topics.

Hi, after investigations, I had a wire cut near the starter as shown in the picture.

After doing the repair / welding, the tests are conclusive. The ESP indicator will not light up after 10 minutes as before.
Everything is back in order and operational.
