Might be true on this car, I don't know, but on my audi's its done with coding. I have gone the opposite direction, and ENABLED the aux. heating, since it was disabled (you had to start the heater manually if you wanted it to run) before. I also disabled the coolant valve to heat the engine, and not only the cabin. It is impossible to fix with coding.
The scan log are in the first post.
Someone are made some own patents to disable automatic heating in Finland.
I did not ask for the scan logs, I asked for screenshot(s?) of the coding screen.
edit: I think I have to correct myself. The coolant shut-off valve is done by coding, but the aux. heater function is done by adaption, and as Uwe already has mentioned, this is done by channel 6, at least on my audi A3. With a 0 in this channel the aux. heater will NOT start. With 1 in this channel the aux. heater will start automatically as needed. I have confirmed it works, on my audi A3 and my A6. Not 100% sure about the procedure on the a6 since I do not have the car available at the moment, and I do not remember how I activated it. I thought I did it by coding, but I am not sure anymore.
