Another question from me :-)

Which manuals contain the module access codes? The Bentley's? genuine VW etc?

I have "A certain DVD manual", but haven't found anything so far, but might be looking an all the wrong places :p

For newer cars, none of 'em really do.

What are you trying to "Access"?

Just some modules have the option to enter it,

and I seem to recall one module I was looking at measurements, and some said security access required. 'd have to look to see what module it was now.

Obviously the the Immo needs a code though, but that's a whole 'nother story

Those codes vary from model to model and module to module, usually VCDS will display them in the security access menu. The fact that no code is shown doesn't mean however that you are limited in what you can do. Only a fraction of the functions do require a security access code. We do believe that we have most of the codes included which are relevant for service related functions.

What are you trying to accomplish that you think needs a security access?

See if it is possible to add the gear number to the display when in D or S. One forum said there is a choice of having the display on, another said to change from NAR to ROW. Both forums were not A3 but want to investigate. Can’t because the A3 requires a security access code

I do not see an Adaptation channel for that function based on the TCM data from this scan.

Address 02: Auto Trans (J743) Labels: 0D9-927-770.clb
Part No SW: 0D9 300 012 L HW: 02E 927 770 AQ
Component: DQ250-6A MQB H53 4521
Revision: 05853104 Serial number: TFK01408242559
Coding: 0014
Shop #: WSC 04742 780 00200
ASAM Dataset: EV_TCMDQ250021 001001
ROD: EV_TCMDQ250021_SE37.rod
VCID: 1F46069D060DE4D9761-804A

Please update that tweaks thread with the exact details, including which function you are using (Coding, Adaptation, etc) when the controller generates a Security Access Required type of error and which controller you are tweaking. For example, country changes in the 17-Instruments may change numerous functions ... but they can cause undesirable results at times.

Based on the other forums, which were not 2015 A3 forums, the dsg gear display for D and S are in Auto Trans. One showed a menu with D/S on. The other said change from NAR to ROW. That why I thought to try Auto Trans but I can not access Auto Trans because it requests a security code.
If you think it is in 17 Instruments then I can try that. Where in 17 and does it need a security code?

What exactly can't you access? Clearly VCDS can access Auto Trans, it's in the scan you posted.
