Hi all,
I have a 2005 8EC Audi A4 1.8t with Halogen lights, fog lights but no DRLs.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to get the low beam (dipped) headlights set up to be on all the time as "DRLs" without having to turn off the light switch on the dash.

I've had other cars, where you can leave the light switch on all the time, and when the car is closed and locked the headlights/side lights/Parkers all turn off when teh ignition is turned off, but I cannot find the right setting on my car.

Thanks

Cristian.

Is it as simple as changing the soft coding on module 09 from 00001 to 00011, to trick the controller and then amending the settings in the adaptation?

Interestingly, (and unrelated to this question) I now have a error on the immobilizer (module 25) regarding unsupported DTCs that was not there in the 12.12 release scans.

Thanks

Cristian

It should be, yes.

That's most often indicative of a transient communications error. However, you'll notice all the other data is identically the same as 17-Instruments. I don't remember whether the 8EC cluster actually supports DTCs at 25 or not.

BTW, I see you've made a custom Auto-Scan entry for your car, that only has entries for the systems in your particular car. That's good. But it's kinda pointless to have 33 (the address for generic OBD-II) in there because that address doesn't speak "VAG". Including it in an Auto-Scan list is a bit like walking into a bank and asking for a cheeseburger with fries. ;)

Awesome, Thanks for the advice.
When I was trying to work out what to look for in my scans (to reduce the time it takes looking for modules that don't exist), I used the Control Module Finder and 33 came up. I wasn't sure if it needed to be there or not and erred on the side of caution.
Now that I know about it, I'll remove it and things get quicker again.

Thanks for the great support "o benevolent one" :)

Changed the soft coding to 00011, and played with the adaptation for Low Beam DRL settings and now they work as wanted.
Thanks heaps Uwe :)

I did a new scan this afternoon when changing the lights for DRLs and I didn't get the DTC errors on 17 or 25, so as you said, transient error!!
Also I've now removed 33 from my scan list.

Mission accomplished, THANKS !!!
