Hello,

Currently you can use Advanced Measuring Values only to observer groups for which at least 1 field has description. If there are no fields described for specified group all fields from this group cannont be observed. Simple measuring cannot be used for this because they let you observer 3 different groups not 12 different fields.

It would be great if using Advanced Measuring Values I could observe whatever I want.

I've already emailed support with this but wanted to share this over here maybe more people are interested with such feature.

Thanks.

Work-around: Make your own label file for the module you're interested in, named exactly the same as the SW part number of the module you're interested in. E.g. 03L-906-022-RB.LBL. VCDS will load that file instead of whatever file it's currently using. Look at Template.lbl for a guide on the necessary syntax. In that file, put some kind of description for each field you're interested in, even if it's not meaningful.

That's not the ideal solution, what is wrong with my suggestion?

Well, to start with, it would clutter up the Advanced Measuring Values list with all those groups that have no description, which in many control modules are empty. ;)

I agree, but I was thinking about switch "Show all group/fields" or "Show unlabeled" in the same menu as there are save/load preset. What you think?

Why don't you send us information on the missing items so we can improve the label files with documentation that would help you as well as helping other users?

If I would have documentation and I wouldn't like to share, I would do a complete label file as Uwe suggested and would use it in my garage, but because I don't have such documentation - I cannot share it.
So the only way would be to make a dummy file with all groups/fields, but doing it that way all data in the label file would be replaced with meaningless data. If the label file which I'm interested in, would not be coded I could just add dummy groups/fields, but unfortunatelly it is encoded so I can't do it - rewriting it manually would take too much time.

I wanted to be nice and suggest a feature which in my opinion is usefull, sorry for that.

I'm confused about why you are trying to log/view items when you don't know what they mean and we don't know what they mean. What's wrong with using traditional measuring blocks for this type of exploration? The controller channel map should work for grabbing a snapshot:

I looked at our support emails but never really understood exactly what you were looking for.

The problem is that you can only log 3 different groups, advanced measuring gives you 12 different fields (no matter in which groups they are).

Right but the controller channels map gives you 255x4 = 1,020 possible values all with a few clicks. Again, what are specifically looking for?

Yes it does give all the data, but doing live logs while driving like this is impossible.

What are you trying to log live that is undocumented in the label?

Engine CBBB, for example groups 40-50, which I was told are lambda related.

Enhancing this specific file is on our todo list, the lambda related blocks will be incorporated as well.

It's in in the queue and I'll hope to get to it soon.
