Hi,

I ran AutoScan which discovered failure with the G62 sensor.
I refitted a new original sensor original from VAG, cleared all DTC's, but there is stil a problem with the sensor.
I have tried to disconnect the positive cable on the battery to check if that could help.. but no...

Is there anyone that could help me?

Thanks in advance! :o

Here is the code:

Look at Measuring Block 001, field 2 to see what the the ECU thinks the engine coolant temperature really is.

If you have already replaced the sensor, then perhaps you have a wiring problem.

Thanks for your reply, I will check this later today.

What is the easiest way to find out if I have a wiring problem? What value on the cable shall I expect to measure on the pins inside the connector? Is it possible get a value with out connect the sensor?

Using the factory level wiring diagram is the easiest way to determine which terminal pins and wires are used but you may have success searching for "G62" in the repair manual to see if a Checking and/or Testing section is available. I personally wouldn't worry about any of that if you haven't already replaced G62.

Most engine controllers support an ECT range of -40°C to +140°C so you should see something close to that when unplugged and the other when shorted but I would NOT short wires while testing unless you have a wiring diagram handy to reference.

Hi,

I did finaly managed to remove the error on the sensor.
I removed the fault in the "Fault Codes" window instead of "Clear All DTC's" in the autoscan window.

It's quite obvious that there is a difference..?

I have not read all documentation for this tool yet, so it's probably described in a manual somewhere. It's about time to read some manuals..;)

Of course I will register asap, I love this tool! Nice to have control, and save a lot of money as well!:) VAG workshops in Norway are not cheap..

Yay, another European user here :)
Workshop prices aren't cheap nowhere, but based on average wage in Norway, i assume it's quite high.

In a CAN car like this [Clear All DTCs] from the [Auto-Scan] function sends a command to the 19-CAN Gateway to clear faults without connecting to each and every controller.

You could compare this to the old fashioned method of walking to and then knocking on the door at the neighbors house to borrow a cup of sugar (call this pre-CAN cars). If someone answered, there is a good chance that you are leaving with that sugar (or cleared fault codes).

The new school method of sending a group text message to ALL of the neighbors in your contact list or posting on Facebook (call this CAN) does not guarantee that the recipients of that group message read it or feel obligated to look for the sugar (clear faults as they were asked).

Golf based CAN cars rarely clear faults in the Engine Controller when clicking [Clear All DTCs] so it may be necessary to double click it from the Auto-Scan result page, where the module will open without having to backtrack to the Main Screen, and click [Clear Codes - 05].

I have not read all documentation for this tool yet, so it's probably described in a manual somewhere. It's about time to read some manuals..;)
:) The Interactive (clickable buttons) Manual may be helpful: Online Demo / Manual
