each of the functions bluetooth, Wi Fi, mirrorlink etc.. are Swap functions which needs to be payed to be unlocked, even if device has bluetooth it's "missing software" to run it, so you need to buy code from stealership in order to unlock it over odis
PetrolDave it does 5F

^ Most likely not as there shouldn't be any available for the car in factory database.

I don't think Transporter had MQB composition media system at that year yet. Isn't OPs car still PQ platform?

The T5 has always been based electronically on the PQ2X platform. The T5GP (MY 2010-2015) is PQ24, while the T6 (which is actually a T5GP2, MY 2016+) shares PQ24 and PQ25 components. All T6 support the MIB-PQ, with the instrument cluster being the component protection master. This specific unit was available from factory for this car (not this MY, but that won't matter in this scenario), so there is nothing wrong with the compatibility in general.

SWaP activations are NOT device specific, but VIN specific. While this specific car/VIN came with BT support, it is unclear if the donor car ever came with it. That said, it would be interesting to see if the SVM properly recognizes the existing SWaP BT "license" and would enable it, even though this device isn't meant for this car or if this results in unwanted side effects (like other functions going missing etc.)...

If the device is compatible to this car model as you wrote, then the SWaP should not be an issue. If the original system had BT then there's FEC for this cars VIN and it should be possible to enable it in the new system as well. If there was not BT originally, then it will be more trickier.

For example in Seat, retrofit from MIB1 to MIB2 goes just fine. CP removal and FeC enable succeeds as long as the car VIN has the FeCs in factory database as per Sebastian's post. Even if you retrofit MIB2 to a model year that did not have it originally.

Yes i know that since i did couple of these retrofits but even if device did come with bluetooth once it's component protection is removed, (new vin stored in device) all of the swap functions are invalid, so SVM won't enable these licenses. only way we did manage to get these license is if it had all these or buy them, SVM has restored when we removed similar device but just radio without navigation (he had from factory bluetooth, wifi, mirrorlink but no nav) and replaced it with same but navigation, in this case svm restored licenses but not for map /navigation, since the car didn't had it, so in the end it stayed the same we couldn't unlock maps.

CP and SVM/SWaP are separate, you can match CP w/o touching the SWaP licenses.

I was under the impression that SWaP codes/functions were tried to a particular VIN?

Yes, that is correct.

But before you can restore FEC/SWAP, You must remove CP. Then restore FEC.
They are 2 separate Test Plan inserts.

@Sebastian - apart from the radio unit, instrument cluster and ECU, do any other modules in the T6 have component security data on them?

Compontent Protection, as Robert stated, just J285/#17 (Instrument Cluster, as Master), J428/#13 (Distance Control, as Participant) and J794/#5F (Infotainment, as Participant).

Immobilizer should be just J285+J362/#17+#25 (Instrument Cluster, as Master) and J624/#01 (ECM, as Participant). As far as I am aware the Automatic Transmission isn't part of the Immobilizer here.

That leaves SWaP (Software as Product)/Feature Codes as stated in previous codes.

@Sebastian and @Robert-VW thanks for the info. So based on the above, if we had a basic specification T6 that has no radar and has had the radio already swapped out for an aftermarket unit, the instrument cluster could be replaced/upgraded providing the immobiliser/component security data block was written to the new cluster using third party/offline tools without it affecting any other feature on the vehicle or needing any online/ODIS coding?

Not an expert there, you might get away with that though.

Yes if you dont have Radio with CP requirement or the ACC than you dont need the ComponetProtection Master.
You can Just use any T6 Cluster to Upgrade and just restore Immo Data.
Amarok Cluster is a good Fit, too, (FW is Same as T6) only need to change the Casing, and Eeeprom Data, for Shure.

To get no errors you just put 0xFF in Cluster Eeprom 0x1500 till 0x16FF this disables CP Master in Cluster.
Else you might get some Cluster Error regarding CP or regarding Checksum of eeprom Area.

@dnoermann: hmm........ do you know why this works in disabling the CP function? I'm trying to understand if a similar fix is possible on other MQB platform models that use the hex19 module as the CP master?

For example, if I look at the factory hex pattern on the memory locations quoted above for a car where the cluster is the CP master - and I identify a similar pattern on the CAN Gateway module for a car that uses the hex19 module as CP master - can the same fix work?
