New Delphi Technologies 500+ bar GDi system cuts gasoline particulate emissions by up to 50%, reduces fuel consumption

Why not just isolate & use an external pump and use rotary type driven by Crank or cam & would be far more practical, efficient and not able to leak possible fuel within engine?

Let me see if I understand this correctly:
  • VW told Samsung it wanted enough batteries for 200,000 cars per year.
  • Samsung assumed each car would get a 100 kWh battery, that would have been 20 gWh of batteries per year.
  • VW said, "Wait, we really only need an average of 48 kWh per car, so we really only need 10 gWh of batteries from you per year.
  • So Samsung got mad and said, "Well the most we're willing to sell you is 5 gWh per year!"
This makes no sense!

Somewhere (maybe even earlier in this thread?) there was a far more plausible explanation. Samsung is pissed because VW is looking at making building its own battery plant(s).

And as for owing Elon an apology: I'm not sure I understand that logic either. A couple of years ago, Elon claimed Tesla would never have battery supply problems due to their investment in the Nevada Gigafactory, and now he's blaming battery supply issues for lack of Model 3 production?

I have some theories about that too, but I won't elaborate on them here. ;)

There is an alternate explanation for the VW-Samsug spat..

What if Samsung has come to the realization that it cannot profitably produce batteries at the price VW is willing to pay for them?
