That looks like it may be a problem with your router blocking TCP port 11000.not work:

Now try a couple of HN2, update without any problem.

In that case, since I can't configure the ports, I would go to a neighbor or colleague where the update has been tested successfully. Maybe I would send it to a local VCDS distributor for an update.

OK, I see a problem with one (of the four) server instances.
Will try to get someone over there to give the server a whack on its side. This may take a bit, given that it's Easter Sunday...

I didn't have the fault, it worked well until yesterday. It didn't work this morning, I didn't do anything (I didn't configure TCP, UDP, firewall, etc.), now it's working again.

Yes, server issue on our end. Our up-time is pretty good, but certainly not absolutely perfect. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Struggling to update a registered cable which hasn't been used for a few years, all seems to be fine with network test but not able to get a good firmware file download and transfer. Device seems to 'disconnect' from Windows (at least it makes the windows sound like it's been unplugged) and goes to a solid green flashing LED only on the left side (with label facing up and cable towards you). Latest version of VCDS, Win10 enterprise, no changes made to default install options. Error is "Bad update download" followed by "Socket timed out". Any advice gratefully received.
Enterprise, eh? In what way is it locked down, and what nannyware is installed on it?
Try updating it on a different computer. You don't need to install VCDS if you don't want to, you can just grab VCIConfig.exe and hidapi.dll on a USB stick and run them directly from it.

Yes did a fresh install on my desktop and all is working fine.
Tried again on Laptop with the original issue and is working fine on there now also.
