For info for folk with the CFB 0.0 issue like me, I have been contacted by both Ross-tech and the UK dealer and my replacement device is already in the post.
So I’m back happy again and appreciate the speedy response by all involved.

Please be sure to return the bricked one to the dealer. Once we have confirmation that they have it back, there's a good chance you'll hear from us again. ;)

Will do. A chap called Grant at Gendan said the replacement device will arrive with a prepaid postage label to return said damaged device.

First time user and I got snookered during registration by the firewall preventing VCDS Interface Config utility from communicating on TCP Port 11000.

Turn off Windows 11 Defender Firewall AND any other firewall running on your router/wifi connection to the internet.

Turn off Windows 11 Defender Firewall
Unless there's been a recent change to Windows 11 firewall in a Windows Update, or your PC has some unusual settings, that really shouldn't be necessary.

AND any other firewall running on your router/wifi connection to the internet.
That's something we've occasionally run into, most often in a corporate environment.

Just confirming that I too was having issues with the firmware update on Hex-Net cable. Simply switched off the windows defender firewall, and it upgraded immediately and fully. Only windows defender is installed, there is no other firewall software at all on the laptop.
Anyone doing this, I know it's obvious, but often overlooked - remember to switch the windows defender back on once the update is complete

Hmm, that really shouldn't be necessary. I do updates regularly on several HEX-NETs and have never had to turn Defender off.

That's not to say it isn't worth trying if someone has difficulties.

I am in the same boat. I was using V18 of VCDS with my previous 2007 Audi, now I replaced it with a 2018 Audi and I updated to V25.3.0 and I am stuck trying to do a firmware update on my Hex-Net.
I have tried multiple iterations listed in this thread with no success.
Current Versions:
CB: 0.4123
FW: 0.214
CFB: 0.9
BL: 0.24
DS: 0000030

So the last time you updated this previously was in 2016..

You can try this:

But in the end, you'll probably want to contact Support for an RMA to send it in and let us get it "over the hump" for you.

Yes regarding the last update as I was treating it like my other tools in my tool box. I didn't realize that firmware updates are also required.

Thanks for your assistance and great customer support.

It is a long time but for those who may experience the same, there is no need to reset the HEX-NET device. What you need to do is ensure the device is not connected to the internet. Only the laptop should have a connection to the internet. You can shutdown the wifi that the device auto connects to and use a different connection for the laptop

If you think that causes a problem, why not just press the button on the HEX-NET and put it in AP mode? It cannot possibly have an internet connection of its own when it is in AP mode.

Personally, I've never had to do anything like that and I've been updating some of my HEX-NETs for 11 years now.

I am trying to apply the recommended firmware update to my HEX-V2 via USB and it will not complete the process. Goes through the cycle or "Preparing Update", "Transferring" once and then the second time through it consistently stops at this point. I have tried at least 10 times and even left VCDS Config running overnight to see if it would eventually complete, but it does not. The lights on the HEX-V2 are alternately flashing alternate yellow/green and red. Below is a screenshot - thanks in advance for your help!!

Some things you can try: If you have a different PC, see if it works there. Try powering the DLC end for the update. Try a different USB port.

I only have one PC, pretty sure I have tried multiple USB ports, but can try again. Will try that and updating with DLC powered and report back.

The current firmware on the HEX-V2 ia 0.0. Isn’t that weird? Can that be the problem?

Just tried a different USB port on the laptop and running the update with the HEX-V2 connected to the vehicle - same results. :(

Yeah, I thought that was super weird too. This whole setup WAS working just fine for me until I updated VCDS to the latest version. :(

I was having an issue updating my device and posted the issue over here: https://forums.ross-tech.com/index.php?threads/48838/

As I was receiving error -8, unable to download.

One thing to note, despite being in AP mode my router is still assigning the Hex-Net another IP address when connected via my laptop. And this is a different IP address from when it is in infrastructure mode. It does not appear that I can actually disconnect the Hex-Net from the internet to perform the update regardless of mode. How, this is happening I am not sure...
