Hmm. I just thought of something. The Indirect TPMS (via ABS) is still turned on. I will turn it off and retry the long coding change (orig to new CCM).

Or I might as well ask too if anybody knows what will happen if both are turned on?

That 'conditions not correct or request sequence error' often means you're trying to do something (like coding) with the engine running when the module only allows it to be done igniton-on engine-off.

Well, I definitely have the engine off. Must be something else. Wondering if it has to do with the WSC/Importer/Equipment message? Anybody ever seen that one before?
Still cannot input recode of original CCM to new CCM.

I've read some threads about the "uninitialized control module" (e.g. https://forums.ross-tech.com/showthread.php?12816-Uninitialized-Control-Module)
but even changing the values of using the suggested 12345 will not be accepted.

Maybe try changing coding Byte by Byte.

Example in LCode helper change the first Byte(Byte 0 ) value from 13 to 93 and follow until all bytes have been changed.

I'm really at a loss here. Anybody have a CCM from a MK5 USA GTI that I could test? Since this CCM is from a Jetta, could there be something preventing it from working in this GTI?
I'm inclined to search for an MK5 GTI USA CCM on ebay to try, but maybe a waste of time?

The other concern is that I'm not clear on how the TPMS works, as UWE eluded too. I saw a diagram elsewhere that makes it seem that they are receivers at the wheel wells, which presumably, this Canadian GTI doesn't have.

It doesn't "reset" modules. It just powers them down and when powering up loads software again. You may want to give it a try.

Also i think it doesn't matter if it is Jetta or GTI CCM, because modules of that time usually were only configurable by coding.

But i do think we need to figure out what the conditions are for coding a module.

I just tried the battery idea, but it didn't work. I cannot code the CCM at all. Same error.
Maybe there is another module that is also different that is preventing the CCM from being coded?

Is there a database of stock VW model Autoscans? I'd like to find a 2008 MK5 VW GTI USA Autocan that I can compare all modules with our Canadian GTI... just in case there are more differences than the -CT on the CCM.

Per the Ross Tech wiki at - http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/VW_Golf_(1K)_Comfort_System#Coding

Maybe using the original coding is not possible since the part number is different on the CCMs.

Replacement
Make sure all vehicle remotes are present.
Run and save a complete Auto-Scan and save it prior to module removal. See the Online Manual Auto-Scan.
Code the module with the Long Coding from the original module found in the Auto-Scan.
Note: If the new module is not the same part number it may use a longer coding scheme than the original module. If registered users need assistance configuring the new coding they can send the before and after replacement Auto-Scans to Support for assistance.
Disable Factory Mode
Remote Control Matching
Vehicles with the diagnostic capable Address [65] - Tire Pressure Monitoring will need configured next.
Code the TPMS module with the original coding from the saved Auto-Scan.
Enter the Security Access and Adapt the Specified Pressure as per the vehicle label.
Refer to this Tech Tip if the TPMS system does not learn the wheel sensor ID after a short drive.
Clear all fault codes and verify all comfort functions and lighting are working as per design.

I did happen to connect with somebody on FB about whether or not the MK5 has TPMS receivers in the wheel wells (or elsewhere). The person stated that he was fairly certain that the central locking antennas are what is used for the TPMS sensor communication.
Can anybody else confirm this?

Hope it does too. I've been following your thread with interest, not ignoring, but I don't have further sage advice with your current CCM. I'm not sure of its origin, and there may be something about its current coding that's hard to undo. For a used CCM, it would indeed be ideal if you got one out of a car model that matches your own.

Edit: I'd reiterate you probably need to disable your ABS-based indirect TPMS, if you haven't already. Don't recall seeing confirmation of that.

It's true. I can't give you a direct link here, but if you Google for "VW Self-Study Program 861603" about VW's TPMS implementation of that era, you'll find a very educational document that explains all about how it works. Your system is the one without wheel position recognition.

I have received the GTI CCM (-CT USA based) and I can save to install, and I can save long coding.

Following the install, the TPMS in 19-CAN is on, and 65-TPMS show up with "sporadic comm error" (assuming no sensors).

But, now the door / key FOB does not unlock doors, and the trunk and fuel hatch on the door do not work either. Any thoughts on that? FOB I seem to recall seeing somebody mention something about learning, but I'll have to research. I guess the good news is that I can now make coding changes and TPMS is listed.

Jyoung8607 - and to confirm "Your system is the one without wheel position recognition" means that there is no other in body/wheel well sensor/receiver required (other than tire stem sensor)?

Well, hit another snag now. After the swap, I was able to enable TPMS and change long coding.
But now, I cannot connect to the CCM (newest -CT USA).

Do you think it is possible that the Ignition Switch error could be causing any issues?
Or maybe that I put the original coding into the new CCM?

I'm sorry I don't have any advice to give either, but I want to say thanks for the link up in the beginning of the thread about enabling indirect tpms.

My 07 jetta, I previously disabled the active tpms due to wheel changes (and unfortunately the OEM wheels are gone and took the OEM sensors with them).

I hated not having tpms since the car is only occasionally driven and not always by someone who checks the tires before driving, and run the risk of damaging the current wheels/tires.

I'll continue to keep an eye on it, but the indirect tpms seems to be working now.

I do have a question, there are any number of 3rd party TPMS systems that can be added, would they not suffice or be authorized for your import process?

The use of third party is not allowed per the written regulation, but I've heard of Customs having some discretion... I didn't realize I'd run into so many issues with this.

If i understand right, is that after putting Your original coding to Your new CCM, CCM stopped communicating?

Perhaps try now again battery reboot, perhaps check fuses(We never know).

Other than that i have no idea why would CCM stop communicating after Coding is applied. ... Confused ...
