Hello everyone hope everyone had a great summer.
Hey I have been chasing an electrical gremlin (ghost), on my 09 cc 6 speed manual, I will try to explain as best as I can.
Every once in a while I get a P2295 short to ground MIL fault. I noticed that this ONLY happens when I cycle the key to accessory and or to start (without actually cranking the engine, NOT pressing the clutch to start). If I start the engine every time I never get this fault. In addition, it happens every 2 to 4 or 5 cycles of the push key NOT with every cycle of the key. I have been through every wire looking for shorts but have not found any. Again once I clear the code and actually start the car I never get this code, I can drive like this for weeks with no issues but as soon as I cycle the key to accessory or start without starting the engine (every 3 to 5 cycles) the fault returns, no other issues with the car. Runs and drives great, I’m thinking either the push key is faulty or computer.
Work done to the car, some for the issue and others as preventative maintenance:
tank fuel pump, HPFP, fuel injectors, rail fuel pressure sensor, MAF, and complete tune up, intake valve clean. Most recent balancer shafts replaced due to seized left hand shaft (the one that runs the water pump).
this fault hasalways been there since I purchased the car used with 114K on it.

CAR HAS NO TUNES (Non chipped ECU) All OEM.
Any suggestions?????? LoL

It would be good to refer to your previous post about this issue, for a complete history. Also, it would be good to post a complete un-edited Auto-Scan of the entire car (wrap it in [ CODE ] [ /CODE ] tags without the spaces). What you posted is from the engine only, and it's definitely not current as it's dated in July and identical to your other thread.

Always post the entire scan as other DTC's help in understanding issues and config............

Please educate me, the uneducated.
How is this weak? Fully charged battery is 12.6V, the car wasn't running on the time of the fault happening.

Experience more than anything and seeing things like this.
How he described the issue during the key selection.

To me its close enough with all the crazy modules coming online.......... the age of the car for an issue...... maybe with an ignition switch issue undefined condition.

I am just guessing without a complete auto-scan......theorizing the most obvious in my head........

The BCM's seem to flake out during a crank of load and you may not see it during that glitch.

Before I condemned the ECM.......... I would want to know that battery is perfect and grounds where all good if in fact the valve was verified good/new and no wiring was in error.

Not looking to educate the uneducated.......just an opinion based on what I see and was presented.

More data is needed.........

A fresh battery will net closer to 12.8 V from what I see static and if the meter or VCDS went below 12.5 in less then 15 minutes I'd say the battery is junk or needs a charge.

thanks guys, yes this is an older scan but I was just trying to show the actual fault. I will post actual full scan, I too was wondering about the battery and/or switch myself, I apologize for not posting the complete vagcom in my previous thread, I will add full scan as soon as I can, thanks again.

Hello guys Ok I had some time for more trouble shooting, first I connected a battery charger and confirmed that as for the battery voltage, I still have the fault when I cycle the key only, when I start the engine no issues car runs great, maybe key ignition key (I hope)or computer (hope not).

Ok I finally found the problem, i piggy backed a wire directly from 12v to the n276 pin 2 connector and cycled the key a bunch of times with 100% success. The problem child is the engine bay fuse and relay box part 3c0937125, now I have to get locate one. After I removed the fuse box I checked it again on the work bench and this time ( I'm guessing from moving the box around) I got a small amount of resistance from. The fuse 17 to the back of the wi that feeds the n276 hpfp. Once again thanks to all for your input and assistance.

I have found that an inspection of fuses and fuse boxes is best done with each fuse removed and with my eyes now under light with magnifier.

Uwe's style glasses are a serious consideration I have pondered............They have adjustable magnification.

Using a diode light or meter voltage test just doesn't cut it for fuse checking.

Since fuses are load related......... they should always be done with the correct test light to check the ability to carry current or amp probe.
If corrosion is there you will see it through the resistance or illumination of the light.

To many are afraid of load test lights and been brain washed into safety diode testers verse taught properly.

Screw hope...........I'm American............ I want change now! Not banned supersized soft drinks/or magazine restrictions as a solution.

What part # did you order and was curious what a used unit went for?

Did you get a filter with regulator?

Did you check with OEM to see if you qualified for both as a campaign or service action?

There are 4 different pumps for this car..............

part ordered was 80 bucks free shipping (fuse and relay box part 3c0937125). What filter are you refering too, and I did not check with OEM for any campaigns, thanks.

Also to add as for the initial problem with the short to ground fault only when I cycle the key to accessory what would the pump or filter have to do with it, I'm not being a wise ass Im just trying to understand your question, thanks.
