Hi Uwe,
I saw a few blockmaps in the forum done by that beta version since a months or so...

Do you have a particular need that isn't addressed by the current Release?

I am evaluating an unsupported car which is very(!) similar to the Audi E-Tron GT

VCDS has obviously implemented many feature to satisfy the customer even if the car is not 100% defined or supported.
I guess it was since 22.3.1 many ECUs now work very nicely for diagnostic value readings.

if there is no ASAM mapping, bad luck of course,
but for some ECU e.g. $5F there is a "I know what I do"-pop up and I can choose similar definition files
and any of the suggested .rod files are working like a charm!

My question or suggestion to your support was already:
Why isn’t it possible to choose for similar .rod files for all ECUs may be limited to read-only functions?

e.g. Gateway $19, great source of diagnostic data.

My car has ASAM def: EV_Gatew31xPO513

VCDS has:
EV_Gatew31xAU65x_AU49.rod, EV_Gatew31xAU65x_AU58.rod
EV_Gatew31xAU65x_BY63.rod ,EV_Gatew31xAU65x_LB63.rod

May be I want to try one of these like in $5F? The chances are very high that most of the measurement values work fine.

I am pretty sure, I do not understand all your mapping logic and safety concerns, but long story short: I am hoping for some chances to see some closer definitions/mappings in a beta.

Please be patient. I expect there will be a 22.5 or newer version available fairly soon.

However, I make no promises of better support for your "unsupported car".

Right, and adding to that you could try the Chassis override Auto-Scan procedure that pre-dated Pick-a-ROD. Open MyAutoScan.txt and add experimental ** lines such as:

Those exact choices aren't ideal for you but that's a file on my PC. I would try using AU58 (and/or AU65 if you want to get real creative) based on a 2022 Audi e-tron GT scan I'm looking at that used:

Selecting your new chassis type from the drop-down prior to the next Auto-Scan followed by double clicking into each module from the finished scan results may result in additional RODs loading but consider that experimental at best!

If I remeber right: The current HW generation is capable of this but DoIP is not yet required and therefore not yet (completely) implemented (Seems, it IS implemented as could be used somehow) (Dont ask for source, I read a thread the last months where Uwe described the current situation https://forums.ross-tech.com/index.php?threads/30985/post-260638 ).
If I posted wrong info, please correct me.

Yes, the current HEX-NET generation supports DoIP. That means HEX-NETs with serial numbers starting with 'HN2-', which are also visually obvious because the shells are blue rather than black.

HEX-V2 interfaces do not support DoIP.

DoIP is not yet required

Correct. No VAG car currently in production requires DoIP for diagnostics.

Have you stopped sending out notices when new versions are released? I just realized I haven't seen any emails from you for weeks if not months so I came here to check. I see there was an update released 10 days ago but I still haven't received an email.

We've never done that.

Well, way back in the early days, there was a Yahoo e-mail list/group called "VAG-COM Announce" where new versions were posted that one could subscribe to, but those Yahoo e-mail groups were deprecated by Yahoo itself many moons ago.

Besides, VCDS itself will tell you when there's a new version available -- assuming of course that it has internet access when you start it.

Hmmm, then I wonder where I remember seeing such notices. I thought it was via the email notifications of new posts to this thread that I have set in my preferences. Oh, well but thanks for the reply.

make sure on the VCDS page click Options > "user interface and identification" (tab on top right) click >
then "check for free updates" heading and select from pull down menu "Releases and Batas"
then save and restart VCDS.

Also...... if , like myself, you place your PC in "hibernate" or "sleep" mode , you won't get VCDS update (small vcds pop up window asking if you wish to update now) notices when the PC starts back up ; you have to Restart your PC occasionally and then I have observed the VCDS notice to Update! Just some observations.......

Thank you, Stefan. However, I don't have VCDS rather I have a Hex-Net. Since I use MacOS, and Ross-Tech never made a Mac version of VCDS, I'm dependent on this thread for update info. If it wasn't for the exorbitant price for Windows 7, I'd put it on my MacBook Air under Boot Camp then get a copy of VCDS to use on it without having WiFi available.

I don't know. However, I've been told you don't support using VCDS in a virtual machine so I haven't looked at Parallels. The question then is if I buy a copy of it, could I legally use the possible license to install Windows under Boot Camp on my MacBook Air. If so, then the MBA would be a PC with no virtualization problems. It is something to look at, though.

Edit. OK, I just checked it out. Parallels will automatically download and install a copy of Windows 11, BUT you still have to go to the Microsoft Store and buy the full license. However, because my MBA is a mid-2011, it doesn't meet the Win 11 minimum system requirements as far as I can tell.

Edit 2. I'm told that the versions that will work under Boot Camp on my MBA are either Windows 7 or Windows 8.1.
