Hi All,

wanted to share some info and maybe help to improve the VCDS sw ...

I am adding to new cars (2013 and on VW Golf7, Passat, Skoda Superb, Octavia, Yeti and Seat Leon) the optical parking sensors system which is an aftermarket product that simulate the original OPS.

Only in the MQB platform cars (Leon, Golf7 and Octavia) there is a problem doing the adaptation with VCDS.

In order to "teach" the car that this OPS system is added, there are some adaptation to be done to the CAN Gateway (19) and the radio (5F in the MQB platforms) - activate the parking sensors and activating the BAP menus.
doing the adaptation to the control units with VCDS will eliminate the ESC function in the 5F. however, doing the EXACT same adaptation with ODIS will not "harm" the car.
It looks like the VCDS is doing some other manipulations not related to the functions it is requested to do which affect the functionality of the car. if this is done, i must connect the ODIS, run the online SVM and restore the 5F to its factory settings, then do the required adaptation of the OPS by the ODIS only.

If there is any info i can upload in order to help understand what is the problem, please instruct how and ill upload it. both on VCDS and ODIS.

Thanks !!

The following might be helpful:
  • A full Auto-Scan and adaption maps from 09 and 5F in from a car prior to any mods.
  • A full Auto-Scan and adaption maps from 09 and 5F in from the same car after attempting your tweaks with VCDS.
  • A full Auto-Scan and adaption maps from 09 and 5F in from the same car after it has been fixed with ODIS.

And Adaptation Maps are made like this:

[Applications]
[Controller Channel Map]
  • Enter the controller address
  • Leave Login or security access code blank
  • Function = Adaptation
  • Output = CSV File
[Go]

It may take a few minutes for VCDS to go through all the channels in a module. You may wish to leave the engine running or connect a battery charger.

The Logs sub-folder where you have VCDS installed, so typically:

C:\Ross-Tech\VCDS\Logs\
or
C:\Ross-Tech\VCDS-Beta\Logs

Because the forum does not allow attachment. .CSV files are plain old text. You can paste that text into a post between CODE tags. Or you can upload them to Google Documents and post a link.

in the following zipped file there are two directories -

1. a special car (2014 Leon FR) that i had with original OPS system (both front and rear sensors)
2. a common car (2014 Leon FR) that comes without the OPS, for which i installed the aftermarket OPS system

link for the zip file
