I recently purchased this vehicle not running so I don't know the history. I had to replace the alternator and battery. After I did those the car would start but runs really bad if you try and give it gas. I just purchased the hex-net last week to try and fix this thing. Please forgive me if I am not real familiar yet with the vcds operation. I am using the hex net wired to my laptop. Got a code for throttle body malfunction. Figured it was just due to the dead battery. I followed the procedure in the wiki and got an error message when trying to do the adaption. There are two voltage reading in the left two boxes. The first one changes as I press the pedal down to about .5v. The second reading does not change. Are there dual throttle position sensors in the throttle body? Has one of the failed? If not, what are those voltages? I appreciate any help. Here is a scan, did I do that right?

here is that error message with the voltages. The 3.84 stays steady with throttle input.

Clean the T/B and retry adapt.

"Are there dual throttle position sensors?" not sure on a cable driven T/B There are for sure on Drive by wire T/B

First thing clean the T/B. Second would be load test all 6 wires back to the ECU.

Good luck

I'm pretty sure there's some redundancy in the sensor assembly even on the older TBs, which didn't have "full authority" but still used a motor that moved the throttle plate to control idle speed.

What happens when you clear the fault? How quickly does it come back? A pre-condition for doing a throttle body basic setting is: No fault codes.

I cleared the fault, cycled the key off then on and tried to perform the setting. The fault does not return until after you start the engine again. It doesn't pop right back after you clear it.

STOP!

Take TV off and clean + lube the unit with light lube such as WD40.

Make sure the TV butterfly can move back at least 5mm before it moves forward.

If it can't due to carbon, the unit will never adapt correctly to start its baseline.

This is in addition to what StanLee Marvel Comics said ( VWtech )

You may even want to run an additional ground strap to this unit being it is bolted to a plastic intake.

These TV units hardly ever fail..........unless like over 300K which you fall into that category however I have seen them keep going after a good cleaning.

Got the tb cleaned out last night and was able to do the adaption with my iPad. It passed. Fist time I used the cloud functions. I used my laptop last time. It worked great. Kept loosing connection though. Need to get better wifi in the garage. Thanks for the help guys. Didn't think it was going to be that simple.
