I have run both these tests with the tank feed pipe into a jug and no fuel has come out, additionally there is a motor like noise comming from the front of the engine i can't pinpoint. I expected fuel to come out the pipe?

I have not removed any of them yet, i'm not confident that there is a precise diagnoses. I am about to look for the procedure to test the lift pump operation with VCDS as the filter housing was less full than ones i have seen opened in videos on youtube. Thanks Nick

Well I've not ran the engine but I pulled the filter, it's been in about a year, I think I can see about 4 or 5 specks of metal. What should I do now?

Am I able to test the high pressure fuel pump with vcds ? I do not have a pressure test kit. It would be unfortunate to replace an injector only for it to be damaged.
