    2003 S6 - Oxygen Sensor Issues (2003 S6)

ECM was repaired but still had an issue with the grounding, so the solution was to splice the grey grounding wire from B1S2 into B2S2 (between the sensor and the connector; didn't touch the harness). It worked! This allowed the readiness monitors to set and I passed emissions, finally fully...

    Audi C5 S6 w/Navigation - Setting the digital clock

Sorry I was never notified about these subsequent posts... You mean the vehicle is too old for the GPS to set the date/time, correct? The car has an antenna on the roof for the GPS.

    Audi C5 S6 w/Navigation - Setting the digital clock

I have an 03 C5 S6 with a navigation system, but the stock radio and navigation module have been replaced with an aftermarket double-din head-unit. It doesn't have navigation capabilities nor have I pulled it out to look at how it is wired. The car is relatively new to me still. Does the...

    2003 S6 - Oxygen Sensor Issues (2003 S6)

Thanks for everybody's help. I've had the car at the shop the past few days and they determined that it is a bad ground to the oxygen sensor circuit within the ECU, so it needs to be replaced. They clarified it isn't the heater circuit. They're replacing the ECU.

    2003 S6 - Oxygen Sensor Issues (2003 S6)

... what? You can unsubscribe from threads you know. These are the only new OEM, or close to OEM, parts you can find. The car is 20+ years old and the original true OEM aren't manufactured anymore. These are Bosch. Also, junkyards won't carry these parts as again, they're for a chassis that is...

    2003 S6 - Oxygen Sensor Issues (2003 S6)

I can argue against your statement... as this is true with any auto parts supplier now-a-days, but that's for another forum. The two sensors I purchased from Amazon were new and unused but old, 2012. I ended up returning them as the RockAuto part was newer. I also bought a third sensor from my...

    2003 S6 - Oxygen Sensor Issues (2003 S6)

I took some time yesterday to run the car around with VCDS to try to get some better data into what's going on. After 200+ miles, a fault code was finally thrown, and it was a new one. As requested, here is the Readiness output from the native mode: Readiness Status: 0110 0001 Exhaust Gas...

    2003 S6 - Oxygen Sensor Issues (2003 S6)

Prior to taking the car to the shop last week, I used a dremel to create a notch in the oxygen sensor connector (black) to fit better into the ECU harness B2S2 sensor (brown), since I couldn't get the pins out of the brown connector. It took maybe a minute or two and worked out well.. the plug...

    2003 S6 - Oxygen Sensor Issues (2003 S6)

What would the symptoms be if that chip gets fried? Heater circuit not working?

    2003 S6 - Oxygen Sensor Issues (2003 S6)

That's good to know - thanks. I ask because my new sensor appears to be behaving like the old sensor in terms of the voltage maintaining a more consistent reading around the 0.4ish value. Nothing changed since the last trip besides myself unplugging and re-plugging in the sensor to see if...

    2003 S6 - Oxygen Sensor Issues (2003 S6)

Is it possible that a malfunctioning ECU could "kill" or ruin an oxygen sensor?

    2003 S6 - Oxygen Sensor Issues (2003 S6)

I've bought parts from Amazon many times with success.

    2003 S6 - Oxygen Sensor Issues (2003 S6)

Back after a quick trip and my wife was free to help me swap out the oxygen sensor with another one I bought. This time I purchased it from Rock Auto and it came in a newer box with a more recent copyright date (2018) whereas the two original boxes I bought from Amazon had a copyright of 2012...

    2003 S6 - Oxygen Sensor Issues (2003 S6)

My euro terminal tool arrived, and after an hour of pushing and pulling the wires in the brown connector, I cannot get more than one to release. The one I was able to release was the same one from Sunday, so it's special. But the other three (signal, two heater wires) aren't budging whatsoever...

    2003 S6 - Oxygen Sensor Issues (2003 S6)

Since the Bosch 16073 oxygen sensor is "universal" it comes with a black female connector that I'm supposed to swap with the brown one (pull pins out and reinstall in black one), as the brown one has a notch and the new black one does not. The previous owner had jammed the O2 male connector into...

    2003 S6 - Oxygen Sensor Issues (2003 S6)

I unplugged B2S2 (brown connector) and here are the data. Note: B1S2 didn't have a resistance value and both B1S2 and B2S2 heating were flickering ON and OFF every few seconds. Couldn't really get a good output of that activity. Address 01: Engine Labels...

    2003 S6 - Oxygen Sensor Issues (2003 S6)

Here is the auto scan. The "No activity" is new as it had been the "internal resistance is too high" several times previously. I'm also including a few read-outs from the measuring blocks below this. Note: MIL is still off but the "no activity" code is pending. I may take it for emissions...

    2003 S6 - Oxygen Sensor Issues (2003 S6)

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately they are not OEM... I couldn't find any new ones and I didn't want to put used 20ish year old ones on. The pair I bought are Magnaflow direct-fit CARB compliant. They are the complete pipe so no welding or cutting required. They're brand new and I'd be happy...
