    The oil thread

It tells me that I have 11k left for both oil change and service. Remaining distance to oil change and remaining distance to service are two different things in my car.

    The oil thread

I went to this ADAC station because I wanted an engine power test anyway, so I had them do both: engine power test for 159€ (came out with 155-157 kW between 3600 and 4600 rpm with HVO fuel), and oil analysis for 99€. After 19.000 km, most oil parameters (iron, chromium, aluminium, tin, nickel...

    The oil thread

In my area, the ADAC offers an oil analysis at 99€. At that price, you go there, they take a sample, send it to a lab, and you will get the analysis by e-mail. They don't specify how much of that is actual lab cost. However, the large majority of drivers wouldn't want to take the sample...

    The oil thread

Never is a strong word. The bigger problem is... ... that cars do not detect low oil quality reliably enough. For example, if you have more DPF regenerations in urban conditions, you will get more fuel into your oil. Even though cars with variable oil change interval try to estimate the...

Resolved 2016 Caddy 2.0TDI SCR Issue

No need to apologize, maybe I sounded a little bit more harsh than I indended to.

Resolved 2016 Caddy 2.0TDI SCR Issue

Where does SSP 540 mention two NOx sensors? The Passat 2015 version has one NOx sensor before SCR, and none after SCR. The self-test of the SCR system is implemented by recirculating emissions after SCR through the low-pressure EGR valve back into the engine, so that they can be measured by the...

2015 Touareg - NOX sensor issue? DEF reading issue with countdown

It was sold like that in Europe as well (and then they charged like 5€/l during service, when it was around 0,50€/l at fuel stations). I just don't want to use any word with positive connotation (like "concept") on it :D

2015 Touareg - NOX sensor issue? DEF reading issue with countdown

"Concept" is a strong word. The EPA said that refilling DEF is "maintenance" on emission-related components. Maintenance on emission related components was only allowed if technologically necessary, and the EPA said it wasn't necessary to refill the DEF tank more often than during scheduled oil...

2015 Touareg - NOX sensor issue? DEF reading issue with countdown

Hypothetically, you would see that problem if your NOx Sensor 1 was reading values that are too low, or if your NOx Sensor 2 was reading values that are too high. Normally, the car should make an estimation about what NOx 1 should be (NOx calculated behind turbo charger), and you could compare...

2015 Touareg - NOX sensor issue? DEF reading issue with countdown

Why? Statistically, DEF problems are usually connected with refilling the DEF tank because many people don't read. Half of the DEF problem threads on German Motor-Talk forums, for example, start like this: "The MIL showed up, no engine start in 1,000 km, I refilled AdBlue, but the error doesn't...

2015 Touareg - NOX sensor issue? DEF reading issue with countdown

Mathematically, this would make sense if you had 10% DEF and 90% water in your DEF tank.

    NOx sensor question.

Why would there be 2 NOx sensors on the exhaust pipe? Only cars with twin-dosing AdBlue system should have 3 NOx sensors (like EA288evo and EA897evo3 engines). In these cars, NOx sensor 2 measures NOx between SCR1 and SCR2. These engines appeared around 2020.

2017 VW Touran 2.0 TDI Adblue problem

Unfortunately, I'm not aware of any testing method.

2017 VW Touran 2.0 TDI Adblue problem

It could also be a cable or a connector, but yours would indeed not be the first one where this sensor is defective. Just for demonstration, I grabbed a screenshot from a 2016 Skoda Superb from skodacommunity.de, which should be a very similiar engine and AdBlue system:

2017 VW Touran 2.0 TDI Adblue problem

Select the engine control unit, open advanced measurement values, and find the one for AdBlue fill level in the long list of values. There are probably several of them, some may report a percentage, but only the one that reports actual millimeters is supposed to be reliable. Could be IDE10249...

2017 VW Touran 2.0 TDI Adblue problem

    - If it was a nox sensor problem, the countdown wouldn't start at 1500 miles - If it was a nox sensor problem, the MIL would come up in the dashboard, and it would say something about "Error: AdBlue" That's much more likely to be the problem. You need to look at the sensor value that reports...

    Translation communication breakdown

My comment about stress applies to both. There is just no way you can say UNfair, IMpatient or INactive, neither in british nor in american English. Interestingly, bonnet is a French word, but a hood/bonnet is "capot" in French :) Nope, and I don't intend to. I neither drink beer, nor do I go...

    Translation communication breakdown

They don't sound like same. In German, stress usually moves to the negation prefix. In English, it doesn't. This even works for words which are written the same: German/English fair/fair UNfair/unFAIR Mispronouncing "unfair" in English is one of the top ten mistakes made by German speakers...

Tiguan 2.0 TDI my 2020 - Engine does not start after accident

According to SSP 526, both EGRs determine their current valve position using a potentiometer that is integrated into the valve actuators. The ECU would know if an EGR valve was stuck.

Tiguan 2.0 TDI my 2020 - Engine does not start after accident

Both EGRs are closed during engine start. If one is stuck open, it should store a trouble code about that, shouldn't it?
