I'm not sure what a "FSM" (Edit: Ah! factory service manual???) ; but I think you are after this information:

Yes, I know what you mean! Access, at least on the 4.2L B8, is Very limited.
Plug in one of these volt "meters" and monitor your voltage. I would think ,if charging, it should be 13.5V plus when running and 14V plus when 2000rpm and up...
Although I can't tell you what is exactly happening ; as that has happened to me as well, I usually check for any updates (which it sounds like you have done with the HN plugged into the PC and also used config.).
But I have had success by updating to the latest version of VCDS beta ...
Hard to determine from here what "connector" you unplugged. Plug everything back in and try to do a Auto-Scan.
Where? Clean up all in sight ; reconnect and try to get the complete Auto-Scan.
Hard to determine from here ; but being the sound system (only???), I doubt it.
What is not supported?
There are multiple series (part 1,2,3, etc.) associated with these videos , as well as many others, on YouTube. These will give you some insight to basic testing ; note, some techniques may or may not apply to your concern.
Vehicle in question?????????????
Can you post a complete Auto-Scan?
Perhaps it is the vehicle and that trans. module as it may not have the capability to do what you wish?
Right, the strategy is to go to that site when you have a bit of time ; then, download the files one after the other until you have downloaded ALL provided on your vehicle ; you can then read and explore them later.
You can't print from the site, so you download the files to pdf printable...
I read about this idea here on the forum (Uwe): get yourself a cigarette (12V) socket plug in volt meter (small digital / LED read out) and plug it in and monitor (briefly) while driving. Hopefully your vehicle has a near by socket in view.
If you don't get a signal or warning on the dash...
Just a "heads up" if you are using non oem or non genuine parts ; they can prematurely fail or not function at all. Sounds like the pump is working, but beware of other electrical (unknown origin) parts.
To add to the member comment above ; it is always a good idea to post , here on your thread, a complete Auto-Scan (for "insurance" and the information ; not necessarily the faults). That way a (permanent) record will be here as well as on your PC. Should anything happen to your PC, that...
That sounds good, but remember no clones or copies of VCDS are accepted here on this site. So, I would first ask that person "is this a clone copy of VCDS" or is it Legitimate"?
You need to get a Complete Auto-Scan from this person ; the entire Auto-Scan file. Then post it here in this thread. See blue tool bar at the top of this page and click on the "How-To". (how to post a Auto-Scan).
Also, that "someone" needs to be using a Legitimate VCDS product .
I think a contextual situation would be helpful..... that is, under what circumstances do you want to disable the vehicle: when in storage, when on the street, disable by physically removing something, remote control only disable ???????????
What scenario ???
Did you replace the ABS module with the same PN ? If not you will be asked for the original PN (a previous scan for PN and SW). Is there a genuine sensor on that wheel?
