Hi All,
I've just fitted a Dashcam to my Van, and I want to run it off the second/leisure battery under the drivers seat.
I want to Fuse tap it off one of the standard 12V sockets in the rear of the Van, which are 15 A under the drivers seat.

My question, is it okay to use a 5 A fuse at the top of the Fuse tap (to my USB source) and the "Tapped" 15 A underneath it?

As I understand it, the lower fuse gets it's power first. Then the top fuse. If this correct I think it should be okay?
The Dashcam & USB power source need to be fused at 3 or 5 A

Thanks

It should be fine, provided the combined loads of whatever you have on the new circuit and the old one don't exceed the rating of the original 15A fuse.

If you install a piggy-back fuse, be sure you have it fitted the right way around. Most people don't realize that it can be installed backwards -
