Disabling Brake Pads Warning light on cluster for Audi A8 D4

So I’d like to see if there’s a way to disable the brake pad warning light for my 2011 Audi A8 that’s on my cluster. I just had my pads and rotors changed and the shop was saying that’d have to look into it more on why the light didn’t go off after the change. The sensors were changed as well and brake fluid full service was done so there’s no reason why it should be on but for me personally I don’t really care to much for it and could tell if my brake pads aren’t good and when to change them on my own.

I had even tried using a bypass plug where the sensors go and that still didn’t shut it off so I’m afraid the issue is higher up the wiring area and could cost me a ton of money just to triage it.


so if there’s a way to disable it as it’s just so annoying seeing the light on the instrument cluster please do let me know.

any help would be much appreciated.

Hi and welcome. I'm not sure whether your car / instrument cluster has the option to disable that "feature". Please post an Auto-Scan so we can see exactly how the car is equipped and configured.

Note that as a general rule, the brake pad warning is a dumb circuit. If the circuit has continuity, then the warning will be off. If the circuit is open anywhere, then the warning will be on. So trouble-shooting it is fairly straightforward.

Sorry for the late reply. Yeah I've checked all the wiring at the sensors level and I can't pinpoint nor can the mechanic pinpoint that there are any open circuits. This light is so annoying haha.

Yeah no luck. When doing so it just added the icon to show instead of saying "Brake Pads" under the alerts sections in the instrument cluster menu haha.

This thing is just so annoying, I wish it was something simple to deactivate.
