OP hadn't registered yet when he joined the forum. I just got him Verified. Moving this to Car Repair Support.

I suspect that the Climate Control panel in an A5 is part of the Component Protection constellation. But in any case, Auto-Scans with both the old and the new one installed in the car would be appropriate here.

An incorrectly coded module will still "talk".

MG, I have a Audi S5,2009 and Yes (as noted above in post #8) that item is component protected: you will need to go to the dealer or someone with Abrites , etc. Unfortunately, you are "stuck". CP is "programed in" many Audi components (to prevent theft, so says Audi) so they can not just be exchanged and installed into other similar models. Consult a dealer (unfortunately).

I suspect that the Climate Control panel in an A5 is part of the Component Protection constellation (per post #3, Uwe).

how do i remove it (component protection)
You have to take the car to either an Audi dealer or a VAG specialist with a Fazit online connection to the corporate servers - CP cannot be removed by a stand-alone diagnostic tool.

Like was mention above you need to go to Audi Dealer or find VW-Audi specialist who has right tool to do this.
Component protection is one more Security on car like immobilizer , Audi has it since 2005 , and VW stared I believe in 2016 .
