Good afternoon,

I'm having some difficulty coding my ABS to accept the coding from an automatic to manual transmission swap.

I'm able to log in using my cars PR code but then when i change the soft coding there is no change and just shows the existing coding.

The old TCM unit has been disconnected so it does show a TCM missing fault could this be the reason why it wont accept the coding change ?

Log in for the car is 07495 and the existing ABS coding is 06387 and i need to change it to 06385.
I got a feeling i need to swap the abs ECU for a manual one at this rate.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Ecu has now been flashed with the coding for a manual gearbox but it still shows the TCM fault.

That exact ABS module does exist in manual transmission cars (e.g. here, so I don't think it needs to be changed.

The '8' in the 2nd-to-last digit of your existing ABS coding has me scratching my head. The 8 is undocumented, but some web-searching for scans has me thinking it might be unique to V8 cars with automatic transmissions (and I think all the V8s came from the factory with automatics?)...

What happens if you log in with 07495 and code it with 06395?

We have been head scratching a little as even the engine ecu is still looking for the TCM even though we have changed the coding for the manual gearbox. My plan is to put an S4 BBK tune on it as i'm running the S4 camshafts but there is some differences between the BAS ecu and the BBK. The BAS ecu uses a vacuum pump and pressure sensor whereas the BBK doesn't.
Bear with me i will just try that coding thanks

Try if this is accepted:
log in with 07485 and code it with 06385?

Also check your Instrument Cluster. What do you have in Adaptation channel 060 there?

+0001 - Engine
+0002 - Autom. Transmission
+1024 - Instrument cluster
+2048 - Self leveling suspension (Allroad only)

Yes, but I'd think it should have thhe +2048 for Self-Leveling Suspension too. Since that's not a source of any issues at the moment, I'd leave it at 1025 for now.

So 3073 would be the best for adaptive suspension and to clear the TCM from the cluster.

What i'm thinking of doing with the ECU is to flash it with a manual BBK S4 tune and softcode it so it shows it as an audi A4 11711 and code the ABS as 06395 do you think that this may solve my issue to get it working with no faults ?

Thanks for the help so far

The car is now working as required.
Had a contact who was able to edit the main ecu flash as a manual even though there was never a 4.2 manual file.
Flashed new bin to ecu, abs and ecu softcoded for the manual box.
Drives perfectly so glad I was able to complete the conversion correctly and is possibly the only manual converted 4.2 v8 C5 Allroad in the uk currently.

Hello LeeMee Just done the 6-speed swap on my allroad 4.2 and had manual bin flashed to the ecu by Audis4parts not sure which they have put on it though.
Just having some soft coding issues and is there a chance you can post a scan of your car or tell me what soft coding you put into your various modules please?
I have had to leave my old auto trans ecu connected or else i lose the ABS ecu communication totally from scans. Is this a V8 common issue?
Cheers thanks for any help. V1

Hi good job on the 6MT swap 👌🏻.
I do not run the TCM and never had the issue you describe in my car as the guy that modified my ECU Binary used I believe the manual parts of an ANK manual S6 file.
He is well known with the RS6 C5 scene for performing the same manual swaps so really knows what he's doing.
I also had to do some data logging of the NVQ gear quotient so that cruise works correctly with the right values for the cruise control to work as the tip was only 5 speed and cruise did not operate in 6th.
I modified my own Binary to allow for the softcoding to be used and programmed the cluster and ABS module as per manual coding.
My ECU is coded 11715 or 2D C3 Hex you'll find the locations for SCV at the decimal location 87044, 171666-171748, 171888.
I also changed the small 1kb EEPROM file for the softcoding above but I'm sure once the ECU has the correct softcoding VCDS will allow you to change the value.
Hope this helps you out or if not I can get in touch with my guy and he can hook you up with a working file.

Not sure how to edit. Latest scan above after my 7.5 hour commute to where i work. Still no working cruise control and this is with S4 ECU installed i sourced from UK. Forgot LeeMee we were talking on this thread about the few issues i had. So you have working cruise control in 5th and 6th with your allroad 6 speed conversion??
Prior to you getting it operational what problems did you have in measuring blocks? I have no set resume or accel working. All others work eg clutch and brake pedal inputs and cruise shows as active in ECU. Power on off button works.

There's a clue to the cruise control problem in the Auto-Scan - the engine ECU is expecting a message from the steering wheel electronics:
18107 - Powertrain Data Bus P1699 - 008 - Missing Message from Steering Wheel Electronics
The steering wheel electronics should appear in the Auto-Scan at address 16, but there is no response despite it being in the list of addresses that are scanned:
Scan: 01 02 03 06 08 15 16 17 18 22 34 35 36 37 45 55 56 57 65 67 75 76 77

While looking through the Auto-Scan I noticed another fault code I can comment on from the RNS-E at addresses 37 & 56:
02005 - Coding Pin 004 - No Signal/Communication Freeze Frame: Fault Status: 01100100 Fault Priority: 5 Fault Frequency: 1 Reset counter: 101 Time Indication: 0 Date: 2022.11.14 Time: 22:41:29
This is caused by the RNS-E being coded for Bose but the Bose pin on the RNS-E not being connected to ground, does your Allroad have Bose?
