Hi,

I had a local garage replace my 5K0-953-569-C and the part I purchased was a brand new 5K0-953-569-AL which I believed was the newer replacement for the 5K0-953-569-C.

However after fitting the part and then charging me extra for a VW person to run diaganostics they advised they believe the part is faulty or I should be using the part 5K0-953-569-C - as 3 additional fault errors lights appear on my dash - one of these appears to look like a traction light, also I am not sure if the auto hold is functioning correctly.

Originally there was an airbag warning light and fault with the horn.

I am not convinced the garage that did the original job know are correct and I was wondering if someone can advise me on the following?

1) Is it ok for me to replace the 5K0-953-569-C Steering Module / Clock spring with 5K0-953-569-AL?
2) If yes what additional programming etc is required for the new errors to disappear?
3) If no and I should have the full exact same part number - 5K0-953-569-C - can you please advise where I can purchase this cheaply I do not mind if it is second hand - I have already looked on eBay?

I am based in UK and I know I could take it down to VW, but they always start charging expensive fees before they even start doing any work.

Thanks in advance

Unless you provide us with car configuration via legimate VCDS scan not lot can be done.

We don't know which car you have and which kind of modules have which might effect the part code and coding of the module in question.

The part does superseed to AL, but you do need programming.
Guessing you do not know what Auto-Scan is i suggest you do find someone with VCDS from local forum or mentioning your location here. :)

Hi,

So I had a mobile diagnostics technician come by to resolve the 3 error lights. He managed to resolve 2 of the lights, however was unable to program and resolve the steering light.
He suggested that the part was not fitted correctly or a wiring issue with the fitting.

Can you please advise if what he has advised is correct and the steering should be removed again and the part fitted back in again?

Alternatively if you believe the issue is still just programming only please advise?
If I plan to use another none VW garage can you please advise what I should ensure the garage has in relation to actually being able to fully program and resolve the issue?
e.g. VCDS? Not using a snap on and VW software?

Error images can be viewed here:

Thanks in advance
