I have a 2007 VW Rabbit

These are the codes I have

-000152 - Intake Air Temperature Sensor 2 (G299)
-008581 - Engine Coolant Temp Sensor on Radiator Outlet (G83)
I don’t have a wiring diagram for intake temp sensor. It’s the one towards front of car on the intake elbow.

Wiring from the ECT looks to go directly to ecu. While using VCDS I get -48C.

I measured about 5 volts at the connectors. Is that normal?

Looks to me like it’s a ground issue. Since that is what links these two codes together.

what would be the best way to go about it? Should I take apart the wiring loom. Or is there an easier way?

When it comes to wiring issues, there are no easy ways. One has to trace the wires and inspect.

Go to the ground point. Inspect,clean, tighten. See if the problem is resolved.

If not, continue the inspection further along the harness.

Per post #2, Please post the entire and unedited Auto-Scan ; all (most) the systems are talking to one another. Just looking at a specific area or fault code can be very misleading! (ie a red herring).

I agree - it is very common for modules to show what we often call "sympathy" faults that are actually caused by other modules, so seeing the complete Auto-Scan is essential.

After checking again I did notice Fuse SB24 was blown. Still have a few codes.
Is it normal for relay R1 to be hot?

The cooling fans resolved by replacing the FCU. My problem now is that I still have to codes that are causing a check engine light.

Both sensors G299 Intake Air Temperature sensor and G83 Engine Coolant Temperature at radiator are not giving correct read out.

I have checked for voltage at the connectors (red for IAT/ Yellow for ECT) both reading about 4.6v.
Not sure what normal looks like.

Ground wire has continuity. I tried doing a load test with headlight bulb 12v. on the wires. Didn't notice any issues with that.

What am I missing?

When it comes to wiring issues, there are no easy ways. One has to trace the wires and inspect.

Go to the ground point. Inspect,clean, tighten. See if the problem is resolved.

If not, continue the inspection further along the harness.

Not sure where the ground point is. My guess based of wiring diagram is that the ground is in the ECU. Not sure where the ECU grounds.

The grounds are often studs welded to the frame. The ground points are shown in the documents that support the wiring diagram. Modules must have a reference to a good ground to properly function.

Question is in regards to the two sensors that are causing a MIL.
AIT (G299) sensor red wire to pin 49 and ECT (G83) yellow wire to pin 17 at ECU.

Update- I was able to get my hands on a used ECU. I plugged it in and went to measure blocks. Engine coolant temp. sensor (G83) was actually giving a proper read out.

Now my new question is about Immobilizer. The car won’t run. Is this something that can be fixed via VCDS?

Or should I look at possibly repairing my current ECU?

VCDS cannot help with Immobilizer. Please see this page: Immobilizer

You car Is Immo IV if I am not mistaken and that cannot be matched with VCDS. Dealer tool or some flashing tool will need to be used. @Jetta 97 may be of help to you as he has a business where he works with ECUs and Instrument Clusters. Id reach out to him.
