Folks, hoping someone here can help me with my issue.

I have an '04 Bentley continental GT. Had a ton of work done bringing it upto par all new Vac Lines fuel lines turbos were replaced. I also decatted it and had it mapped.
Whilst all this was going on i also ripped out the Air suspension and replaced it with Ceika Coilovers. Yeah i know not in keeping with a bentley but i want to make it my bentley. I've bought VCDS to code out the Air suspension but won't lie I'm very aware of the fact that as much i could make the issue go away. I'm more likely to cause myself more issues if i just jump in feet first.

If anyone has done the above and could point me in the right direction i would be very grateful

Thanks Chris

😂 😂 That'll be a long post. I'll try and keep it short and on point to the task at hand.

Not if you use the </> icon in the forum editor to post the Auto-Scan - that opens a window which you past the text of the scan into and will then be enclosed in code tags.

I meant with regards to all the fault codes. That are stored in the car. It's a 17yr old Bentley

Clear them. Any that are important/relevant will be back soon enough.

You're right, doesn't seem in keeping with Bentley, but as you say, your car your call.

I'm afraid the change you've made is difficult to finish cleanly.

Like Phaeton, I don't think there are Bentley CGTs or Flying Spurs that came without air suspension. @DrPeter correct me if I'm wrong. People have looked into this before and there's not really coding options to entirely tear it out. I don't think refresh of GVL without the suspension module actually works, or at least, I don't think it works to suppress alerts in the instrument cluster. Feel free to try.

Also, the autoleveling HIDs on Phaeton depend on level sensor input from the suspension control module to work correctly. I don't know, but I'd assume Bentleys have autoleveling HIDs as well. Technically you could recode them for Touareg without air suspension, but I think that just moves the chassis level sensor input to some other sensor/input, something only Touareg has and only when it doesn't have air suspension. I don't remember the details.

There are outfits that make light-out kits for air suspension deletes, you could look at one of those from one of the vendors that's done this before on Phaeton or Bentley. Here's an example:

I don't know how it works, in fact, I kind of wonder given that there's only four wires coming out of the thing. You'll need to do some research.

If I had to do this on my Phaeton for some reason, like if parts stopped being available, I'd mock up something with a microcontroller with two CAN interfaces to sit between the suspension controller and the rest of the car, so I could keep the controller and the level sensors in place, and keep my autoleveling HIDs working, but MITM the status messages to the instrument cluster to tell it everything's fine instead of faulted. But that's just how I'd come at the problem using my own skillsets and preferences.

People have certainly retrofit level sensors into cars that didn't have them when retrofitting HID lights, so that part is doable. The question is whether the headlight range controller in this car supports the separate sensor inputs. Some do, some don't. For example the C5 Allroad had a headlight range controller that did not, so the only way to make that work was to install a controller from more pedestrian A6.

An Auto-Scan is called for here so we can see how this car is equipped.

Hello,

Like Phaeton, I don't think there are Bentley CGTs or Flying Spurs that came without air suspension. @DrPeter correct me if I'm wrong. People have looked into this before and there's not really coding options to entirely tear it out. I don't think refresh of GVL without the suspension module actually works, or at least, I don't think it works to suppress alerts in the instrument cluster. Feel free to try.

I personally have never seen a 'modern' Bentley, (2004 - >>) with a steel spring suspension system.

Also, looking at the Auto-Scan I do not see a clear path to "code" out the [34-Level Control] system.

In the [34-Level Control] controller, there is an Adaptation, channel [010] for the "Level Control System Deactivation".
Save a new value of (0) for "Level Control System inactive". This maybe a temporary function and may automatically activate once the vehicle speed exceeds 80 km/h (50 MPH). But worth a try?

Since the Bentley is such a large vehicle, you could build a small model of the vehicle (1/8 scale?) with level sensors and resistors to simulate the [34-Level Control] systems components. Put it in the boot and after you calibrate it, it should be fine. Maybe??
- All kidding aside, building a simulator could be a solution, just thinking out side the box here.

Hope this helps,

drpeter

"Level Control System Deactivation"

I'm pretty sure that just switches on JACK MODE and, as you say, it will turn off at speed.

You'll also get the jack mode symbol up. You could possibly just lock the sensors in a position where the ride height is correct and it may be happy with that. Or it may come up with implausible signals warnings?

Yes a model in the boot is a good idea :) . . . I'd probably fit air springs and go for a model for the passenger seat instead. ;)
