2015 Audi Q5 - What am I missing?

2015 Audi Q5 Premium
Windshield Washer pump failed, so I disconnected the battery, removed the left front wheel and replaced the washer motor. Upon starting the vehicle every time since then, the tpms light flashes and then stays lit after one minute, and the ESC and ABS lights are lit.
Below is the latest scan. Usually it's only DTC 01486 but sometimes it's paired with error 02115. I have researched the driving test and understand how to complete it; however, the vehicle will not acknowledge the start of the test: when the brake is depressed after starting the vehicle (have tried many different variations of force on the brake pedal), the ESC and ABS lights do not change indicating the test has begun.

Is there some form of magic required to start the driving test? Does the TPMS malfunction light give any clues as to why I can't start the driving test?

This vehicle does not have a addressable TPMS module so I expect it has "indirect" TPMS, meaning the ABS does it all based on wheel speeds. This also means TPMS will not be happy until the ABS is.

Have you tried the driving part of the System Function Test despite the fact that the ABS hasn't indicated that you've satisfied the initial requirement?

Did you also have to remove the wheel house liner ("splash shield") in order to access the pump? If so, there may be a wiring harness passing through up at the top area ; you may have pinched that wiring ? Also, the wheel speed sensor wiring is behind the brake rotor area, check to make sure you didn't accidently stretch or damage that wiring also.
Wow, that sure is alot of miles for a 4 year old vehicle (144K) ?

I only had to detach part of the liner because the pump was very easily accessible behind the rear portion of the wheel house liner, but I will check both that harness and the wheel speed sensor wiring and report back.
Yes, she's been driven a lot, but very few issues mechanically so far.

So I pulled out the liner and looked behind the rotor and don't see any issues with the wiring being disturbed or crimped. Any other thoughts about next steps?

I'm just not sure the WW pump and your faults are related ? I suppose it could be pure coincidence. Presuming your narrative is accurate (and I have no reason to doubt it) , this is going to sound insulting, but I assure you it is not meant to be..... are you certain that you were replacing / unplugging the washer pump??
If so, is the WW pump now working? :confused:

I'm not sure they're related either, that repair was just the only thing that happened between the time the vehicle was turned off (with no prior warning lights) and turned back on (with ABS, ESC and TPMS warning lights). And yes, the new washer pump is now working fine.

Yes, I believe you would.
If you jack up the vehicle one corner at a time Or maybe one end at a time (use jack stands also) , you can rotate the tire and check the sensor(s). I'm not sure in what area of VCDS it would be under: I think its under "output tests" ; you may have to look through the modules or check under "chassis" . I'm sure some others will chime in with suggestions.

03-ABS brakes ----->measuring blocks - 08 ------> group 001 (go) ------> rotate tire Or go for a ride and monitor (caution, keep your eye's on the road!) may need a helper.

[EDIT] Here is another EXAMPLE (not your car) ;in fact I'm not familiar
with the configuration of your system ; I think the tone ring is built into the wheel bearing. Note how it does not take much of a rust or corrosion problem to cause clearance problems and thus fault codes. Again, this video is only for basic knowledge. If yours turns out to be a tone ring, you will need to change the wheel bearing as the two are integrated / built together. Please keep us posted!

Thanks. The lack of a fault code is what has been throwing me off. The sensor ring on the wheel bearing may be the issue. I don't know that it would throw a code if damaged or faulty. I'll take a look at that next.

Replaced the wheel speed sensor and checked the hub for damage. Still no luck and no error code but 01486. So frustrating.

there is an Audi or Vw tsb addressing 01486 system function test that may not end on its own even if done correctly,if you have not resolved it,kindly check that you do not have an error code other than this one in the powertrain,also check if your ABS module supports a basic settings menu ( post a screenshot if possible) ,waiting for your reply, I had one that refused to vacate for weeks despite there being no errors on a Q7 tdi,this cured it

Again, no other error codes. ABS and ESC lights are solid; TPMS light blinks for 60 seconds and then stays solid. Applying pressure to the brake does not change the lights to indicate the ABS driving test is started.

EDIT: I've also read the referenced TSB concerning the 01486 code but following its instructions does not change anything.

Press brake pedal hard (>45bar) until ESP lamp Off and ABS lamp On
Drive with 20-30 km/h right turn with steering wheel more than 90°
Drive with 20-30 km/h left turn with steering wheel more than 90°
Driving test is successful when ABS lamp is Off
