2 options only ...... module is fault and make a issue with GW , or wires are faulty and finally no communication with infotinment

I have unplugged everything, one at a time. Same issue. Will re-inspect the wires again.

Quick Update, after removing all the modules, Media unit, amplifier. etc. Thanks, Spacewalker

Checked all the wiring continuity and all connector pins on the GW connector socket. I'm still in the same place when I started. Two gateways new and old ( coded same ) coming up with the same error.
Even tough gateway marks the addresses below as unreachable (media player, radio, sound system, navigation, all work independently). The camera, phone don't work.

what would be the reason why VCDS can not complete optical loop scans? Is there a list of cars to see whether this is a compatible feature of the scan tool.

Has anyone else ever had a Defective message on GW? Would there be a dedicated fuse for GW?

Who on the forum has the V6 Alltrack model? VW has gone out of the way to move the battery. modules all over the place due to V6 placement.
I might not be seeing something here. Thanks in advance.

Please any detailed assistance would be appreciated.

Because there is no optical loop in use in the Passat B7 and the battery can hardly be suspected if everything else works.

The point of removing stuff one by one was to rule out a single module which could have brought the infotainment CAN bus down - did you do exactly that? I read you disconnected everything at the same time? Concise info helps us in helping you

You checked continuity between the infotainment CAN pins from the gateway plug to the plug on the back of the radio and then media player in the glovebox and so on?

I have done exactly that, one at the time, and not brought back on the chain till a complete scan for each. One at the time and also removed the MID unit together with RCD510 out of the equation then ran a scan. I did check pins on the GW plug connector for continuity, all fine. On all 4 scans, I got the same error. I will check the media player pins next, that the only thing that I missed.

I don't see a reason why those two would render GW defective when at coding it behaves accordingly.
Also if not connected to the loop at the point of scanning surely it would give me a different error entirely if wiring not active at that point.

Yeah , I saw that just didn’t know what’s it about. In any case I’m guessing it’s when original error occurred .

No idea what to look at next. I read somewhere that missing message error in cluster could mean previous head unit changed looking for nav/phone message . Priority 6
Just don’t understand how so can code the GW if it’s defective.
Unplugged everything and still same issue. I’m moving to back of car to camera multimedia unit . Not sure how that would impact things but looks like direct connection on wiring diagram.

still open to suggestions, don’t really want to go to dealership!

Hi there, just a quick update on this tread.

Seems like my reverse cam control module shorted and burned. As I disconnected the unit all of my steering button controls came back, phone, BT function, all sensors.

Convenience Comfort unit issue.

After replacing with the new part, the convenience comfort module has decided to not only give me more errors but render the entire HAVC control module defective with no communication to it.,

Just wondering anyone else had this issue. It looks like I need to replace the comfort control module or re-flash.

The RVC module dying is a known effect of the Passat B7's rear hatch washer pipe joint leaking over the RVC module. Its highly advisable to replace the right side wiring harness of the rear hatch.

Are you talking about module 46 ? That is on the Comfort CAN, while the RVC is on Infotainment CAN. Please post a fresh autoscan for clarity.

Are you talking about module 46 ? That is on the Comfort CAN, while the RVC is on Infotainment CAN. Please post a fresh autoscan for clarity.

Yes the reverse cam module in the boot space next to vehicle dampening control module.
not the infotainment. As soo as I unplugged the camera module everything came back on but the camera\

after installing new cam module in the back , I lost my HVAC and started to get low oil signal on dash, tyre pressure warning (inactive) amongst others ....

Did you disconnect the battery when replacing the RVC module? That causes many DTCs to be set.

Definitely worth doing a clear all DTCs to see which are still current and hopefully improve the signal-to-noise ration in the Auto-Scan.

The car was at the dealer last week . ODIS comes up with same scan error and they recommend replacing convenience comfort module , or convenience access start control module.
Being Covid and supply chains affected , no new parts for some time.
So I have to get one of eBay but would like to know if existing one can be flashed.

With all their handy work they say $1500. Crazy
