She was a good car. She never let me down. I thought I had gotten over this car long ago, but I am sad anyway. As for the operator, she has either learned an important lesson about maintaining attention on the road, or she has not. Time will tell, and that part is out of my hands.

I tried to perform last rites with VCDS Mobile, but could not connect to the first few modules in an Auto-Scan and gave up. I'm not sure what's up with that, since the engine would run, but I could not be arsed to troubleshoot at the time.

'Crash Data Stored'...

I hope she (your daughter, I presume) is Ok though. I've absolutely lectured my niece to the point of almost falling out; that the mobile gets put on silent and behind the seat, I'd have her lock it on the boot if I had my way.

I had to make one last trip today to finish paperwork. I was able to perform last rites his time. Turns out she only wanted to talk to the interface I had when she was new. So be it.

She, and everyone else, are fine, for which I'm glad obviously. She has a minor abrasion/burn injury to the back of her right hand from the airbag deployment. There's really only one way for that to happen, and it explains a lot, so I don't feel especially sorry for her. There are some people that you can tell them a stove is hot and they just have to reach out and touch it for themselves in order to learn, and she is one of them. Hopefully experience and physics will teach her better than my words.

I did exactly that when I was about three years old.
(It's one of my earliest memories)

Just disconnect the airbag warning light. The rolling garbage dumpster decor inside will surely prevent anyone from noticing the giant marshmallows sticking out of the steering wheel and dash.....

That's a big nope. I'm not equipped to deal with the necessary bending and welding, before even thinking about the cost/benefit of the parts and time investment. And anyway, none of my kids will ever again be assigned a vehicle that I'm emotionally invested in. The former operator has been reassigned to my foster 2004 Phaeton V8 that I was looking to get out of anyway, and that's her last free car. I'm not even sure I'll be providing the customary Dad Extended Warranty on this one.

Anyway, Saturday morning at 10:30AM I'm scheduled to visit Volkswagen of Fairfield and pick up a little something that will cheer me right up. :D

My wife wants an Atlas. I think the "look at it and it will stain" interior of her Honda Pilot is really getting to her.

...or the TV commercial that shows defective suspension dampers! :D

So my wife's GTI took a loooOOoong while to get in. When she filled out a survey for VWoA, she noted that the couple would of had to order the Atlas when she was 4 month prego to get it in time for the new kid.

Wife had to go into work for a couple hours right after we finished signing, and she wanted to drive her new vehicle for some reason.

Fear not, tonight I'll make a grand entrance with my very first post in "Reference Scans and Maps of Non-Broken Cars".

Meh. It's a slushbox, with the aforementioned bad suspension dampers from the factory.....
