I got both headlights complete with bulbs and control units (cornering light + gas discarge lamp) for $500! I though that was a good price so I decided to do the swap. Anyway, I checked and it turns out the left bulb was in deed not correctly seated. I will try to adjust them tonight when it gets dark. Hopefully the beam is brighter and more concentrated now
That is a bargain indeed. I would buy new xenon bulbs at some point as well just to make sure that you have the best light output from the headlights. Genuine Osram D1S pair is around 80 euros so not that bad anymore.
If DLA is auto dipping of high beam with oncoming traffic that is what I had with the halogens so camera etc. is in place, but I did check ETKA and I believe you are right. The new headlights are for PR-8IM (cornering light and headlight range ctrl) and I would need headlights for PR-8IP to get dynamic main beam light as well. I guess that means no more auto dipping of the high beam
DLA = Dynamic light assist and = High beam assist. is on / off type assist which should work with xenons as well. If you have the camera already then you're good to go.
DLA however is dynamic light assist which means that high beams are constantly kept on but oncoming traffic and cars in front of you are masked on the headlights so that they don't get blinded. That requires different headlight modules and it requires a different camera on the windscreen as well.
The reason I asked was because on my previous car (2005 Golf) I had this setup: Parking lights + bumper lights at daytime and xenons at night and I liked that. I'm not sure if LEDs only during daytime is legal here, but other than that the setup you are proposing is much better than what I currently have:
They are in Finland so I would guess they're legal in Norway as well. The led strips are ECE approved DRLs on headlights.
0 - no lights at all
auto with low beam - headlight low beam only
auto with high beam - headlight low beam + LEDs (no high beam)
Also when I use the turn signal the bumper DRL on the same side lits up?
I checked for continuity again to make sure. The wiring for the adapter is:
T14/1 ->
T14/2 ->
T14/4 -> T10/1
T14/5 -> T10/5
T14/6 -> T10/6
T14/7 -> T10/3
T14/9 -> T10/9
T14/10 -> T10/10
T14/11 -> T52c (48 left, 49 right)
T14/12 - T10/8
Correct?
Did you check your connections referring to the pictures I attached two posts ago? I know there's some guides on the net and could be that some of them even are ok but ElsaWin diagrams are 100% correct as they are original VW diagrams which they're own workshops use.
I trust them completely and they've helped me numerous times figuring out why the guide on some forums did not provide the results as expected.
And this is not to put any disrespect to forums or people giving help on them. Ross-Techs forum is maybe one of the best ones I've encountered what comes to exactness of information. I've gotten a lot of help from here.
For example in your connection. T14/12 <-> T10/8 is wrong either by connection already or coding is incorrect on this part. T10/8 is main beam on halogen setup. T14/12 is LED DRL strip on xenon setup. Explains why your leds light up when you put high beams on.
You have not connected the DIP screen motor at all so that explains why your main beam is not working. Dip screen motor is directly controlled from .
Send me your email through PM, I'll send you the ELSA diagrams as PDFs.
Edit :
Looking at the diagrams on ELSA it seems that some of the outputs are used for different purposes depending are the lights halogen or xenon. Now could it be here that some of the outputs are hard coded on the software depending on to which car and trim level it's installed originally.
For example when I did a complete upgrade from + to on my 2007 Golf Plus, I first had a highline module that was taken from Skoda Superb. That had some funny functionality. When I closed the rear trunk, the fuel filler cap pop'd open. The fuel filler opener button from inside the car did not work.
I looked through ELSA diagrams and indeed it was that the same output that controlled the fuel filler flap on Golf was used to control electronic two part rear lid on Superb.
The coding on the software was different. It might've been fixed by reflashing the complete head unit with different software but I went and bought a completely new as it was not that expensive.
So could it be that on this case it's also like this? The outputs are hard coded differently depending on the car model? That coding is not modifiable with . You need either or VCP to do that.
