Hi people,

I'm trying to do a forced regeneration on my side car: 2015 polo 1.4 tdi .

I'm using a Genuine Vagcom VCDS Cable and software

None of these options are working for me:
http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Diesel_Particle_Filter_Emergency_Regeneration

It's not giving me the option to select Coding-II-11, or Meas blocks 08

When I go into security access, it's not accepting Adaptation code

When going into Basic Settings 04, i'm trying to select Regeneration whilst driving, doesn't do anything

How do I do a regeneration with this car?

I can remember doing regeneration on our 2008 polo 1.4 polo bluemotion and that was easy

Is there a new software in the car that's not allowing me to do this via the methods on that link?

This is really difficult

Please help, thanks

Hello,

Per our phone conversation the EDC in the car sounds like:

> Address 01: Engine (J000-CUSA) Labels: None
> Part No SW: 04B 906 027 AJ HW: 04B 907 445
> Component: R3 1.4l TDI H08 2760

The complete Auto-Scan would be helpful though so take a look in this folder on that PC: C:\Ross-Tech\VCDS\Scans

.. so you can paste it here.

I believe SA code 27971 = Adaptation Enabling but you may be suffering from lockout time. I would check Adv measuring values by searching "invalid" to see if the counter is at 1 (or more).

If Basic Settings or Adaptation functions are resulting in error messages the soot level may be excessive. We can dig into all of the applicable Adv measuring values to check after we see a scan.

Best,
Dana

Hi Dana,

The phone line got cut off for some reason, sorry about that,

I haven't tried the "invalid" search thing yet but will give that a go and then update you

this is the Auto scan:

Yeah no worries on the dropped call. Moving this to forum might be best since your family took off with the car :) When the car returns this is the ADV MV:
IDE00323 Security Access: Number of invalid keys

You may not need a SA code at all to force a regen but we want to make sure that doesn't show 1 or more. It should be 0.

Next, I see 2 BS operations:
IDE00471 Service regeneration of particle filter (I'm ASSuming that means while standing)
IDE01637 Service regeneration of particulate filter while driving

If both Error we might want to look at:

IDE00432 Particle filter: time since last regeneration
IDE00434 Particle filter: soot mass calculated
IDE00435 Particle filter: soot mass measured
IDE00436 Particle filter: kilometers since last regeneration

Those should show us the soot situation to see if a forced regen is possible.

Yeah no worries on the dropped call. Moving this to forum might be best since your family took off with the car :) When the car returns this is the ADV MV:
IDE00323 Security Access: Number of invalid keys

You may not need a SA code at all to force a regen but we want to make sure that doesn't show 1 or more. It should be 0.

Next, I see 2 BS operations:
IDE00471 Service regeneration of particle filter (I'm ASSuming that means while standing)
IDE01637 Service regeneration of particulate filter while driving

If both Error we might want to look at:

IDE00432 Particle filter: time since last regeneration
IDE00434 Particle filter: soot mass calculated
IDE00435 Particle filter: soot mass measured
IDE00436 Particle filter: kilometers since last regeneration

Those should show us the soot situation to see if a forced regen is possible.

These are the particulate filter figures from the Auto Scan:

Unlearning counter according OBD: 40
Counter for regeneration time of diesel particle filter: 1717 s
Particle filter: kilometers since last regeneration: 842.9 km
Particle filter: soot mass measured: -2.38 g
Particle filter: soot mass calculated: 55.67 g
Particl.filt.: differential pressur.sensor 1 bank 1: dyn.offset: -0.4 mbar
Particle filter: field regeneration lock status: 8

Right, the number of invalid keys is 0, so looks like we're good in that department.

When I enter security access code: 27971, I select 'Do it!' and then it comes up with a message saying : Controller refused to send a seed! Error 7F: service not supported in active session

When I go into basic settings in the Engine module and try and do a regeneration service, it also throws up an Error message: ERROR: Service not supported in active session

This is becoming really frustrating to be honest

Please help

I don't have an explanation for the error message but some controllers refuse to run basic settings if fault codes were cleared during that session. Exiting the controller, shutting off the engine, waiting a few seconds and then re-starting the engine followed by a fresh diag session usually resolves that.

Just for a key on, engine off sanity check please see if basic settings Transfer Fuel Pump (FP) test makes the electric pump(s) run as expected. If it results in an error of some sort we know the problem isn't related to fault codes or soot.

I'm not so sure about these values?
Particle filter: soot mass measured: -2.38 g
Particle filter: soot mass calculated: 55.67 g

Was anything in the exhaust emissions area replaced, cleaned or re-calibrated recently? The negative measured value and excessive calculated numbers make me wonder if a pressure sensor could have been malfunctioning for a while.

P.S. I forgot to mention the SWL of 9151 in the engine appears to be up to date .. but I got 30 hits (meaning VW had a few issues) on that part number so I could have missed a TPI.
Part No SW: 04B 906 027 HW: 04B 907 445
Component: R3 1.4l TDI H07 9151

i hope this helps you , the soot mass calculated is far too high ,at 55 g it wont regenerate , it should have started a regeneration at 25 g ,although as Dana says the soot calculated should be more than a negative reading, the other reading that would help is if we can see the particle filter difference pressure and the particle filter offset difference pressure, the difference pressure should be really high if the dpf is that full off soot. atb.

Hi thanks for the reply,

These are all the figures from today:

Particle filter: differential press.sens.1. bank 1; = 1.050v

Particle filter: differential pressure.sens.1. bank 1= -3.7mbar

Particle filter: outlet temp.sensor 1 bank; = 0.000v

Particle filter: outlet temp.sens. 1 bank 1; raw; = 900.0 degrees Celsius

Particle filter: differential pressure sensor 1= 0.0mbar

Particle filter; field generation lock status = 227

Particle filter; field generation request status: = counter request active

Particle filter: fuel consumption since last regen: 65.11L

Particle filter; kilometres since last regen: 909.3 km

Particle filter; oil ash volume = 19.54g

Particle filter; soot mass calculated = 60.00g

Particle filter; spot mass measured = -2.09g

So there are all the figures. The transfer fuel pump test isn't working because it's still not accepting security access code 27971.

Any other options with this?

Thanks

from the increase of the soot mass ( now 60 g) it wont be long before it goes into limp mode and you cant drive it anymore , the ash level is normal for the year and mileage , but the soot level is way too high , check the dpf pressure levels with the car running and see what figures they show, the pressure reading at idle should be around 5mb and at 2000rpm around 25-30 mb ,if the dpf is blocked with that much soot then the reading would be in the hundreds of mb, not sure whats caused this ..ie.. a fault or the way its driven,, if its used around town with no long runs then that would cause the problem.for now its needs the dpf to be removed and sent of for a clean ,or buy a new dpf,,( not good very pricey ).if you want too call me on the phone leave me your number in a pm ,and I would be happy too chat with you about this. I wouldn't drive this anymore you would only be adding too the problems you already got.sorry for the doom and gloom.

From what I've been reading, this is what I was dreading. That the soot level is too high to perform a regen. I'll message you my number, much appreciated. Thanks

I just want to thank you so much for the time you took to speak to me on the phone earlier. The advice you gave me and the experience you shared was priceless. I can't appreciate that enough.

The next step is to manually blow DPF cleaner into the Upstream DPF pipes that connect to the DPF sensor on the back of the top of the engine. This should hopefully bring down the Soot levels and allow me to force a regen

I have ordered these two products:

http://www.jlmlubricants.com/en/products/diesel/Diesel DPF Cleaning Flush Fluidpack

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300745840231?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

Let's hope this works

Hey guys,

I am having a similar problem with my Touareg.
Soot mass calculated at 36 grams.... VCDS aborts the emergency stationary regeneration due to "safety reasons". I don't know why because I think i'm under the threshold for excessive clogging.
What did you end up doing? did you manage to force the regeneration or did you have to remove the DPF and clean it out?

Alex.

A Touareg and a Polo are dramatically different animals. ;)

Let's keep your stuff in your thread here please.
