RLS Sensor gel pad

Hi All,
Can anyone advise me where I will get a gel pad for the windscreen RLS Sensor on my Passat B7 please, is a genuine gel pad from VW the best route?

- Have not seen or found any replacement gel I would trust, so I would use the 'repair kit for rain sensor / housing upper part with silicone pad', part number [1K0-998-559]

- Yes I have installed the repair kit before, as you may have seen, pretty straight forward, just make sure the surfaces are nice and clean before installation.

When you can, could you post up a complete vehicle Auto-Scan, that way we can see the whole picture (controller info, fault codes, coding, etc)

Drew, where did that RLS came from? Brand new part? Please recode the RLS to 032B28 and let us know if that addresses the issue.

Sort of related, while it was "deactivated" - did the wiper work with normal intervals or not at all?

Hi Sebastian,
I'll recode in the morning and yes the intermittent function works, as do the 4 speed settings, I'm I right in thinking if I untick the box though it says rain Sensor inactive because it's not ticked it means it's active if that makes sense or should it say rain Sensor active.
The gel pad was a brand new part supplied by my local VW Main dealer.

Drew, I had asked this earlier - the sensor itself, was that new or used? Why did you need a new gel pad in the first place? Did you retrofit / change anything in the car? Did you install a new/different windscreen?

Hi Sebastian,
The windscreen had been replaced before we got the vehicle, then again a month after we bought it, the gel pad was supplied by my local vw main dealer,I replaced the gel pad to eliminate it from the possible causes of the fault.

Thanks, that answers that. What type of windshield is installed now? According to the VIN, the car should have an (heat) insulated windshield. I can only assume the rain light sensor was replaced in the process, certainly the values were completely off. Here's another coding based on the assumption that you got an insulated windshield: 0350CD

Sorry for the delay
Alas that code was no use, can you explain why the writing changes colour from black to blue when I tick the checkbox but the wording still reads " rain Sensor inactive" could the gel pad although a new genuine VW item be faulty? Is it worth getting another gel pad just to rule the possibility it's faulty out?

Sorry for a stupid question but what exactly are you ticking? Ticking that checkbox disables rain sensor. The wording does not change as setting that bit to 1 means => Rain sensor disabled. Leaving it unticked = bit = 0 => rain sensor enabled.

You have tried leaving that bit to 0 and testing that rain sensor works?
